Why I Became a DJ
Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
I grew up in Thailand in a house filled with music. My father played guitar, drums, and other instruments, and our home was always full of friends, laughter, dancing, and celebration. Some of my earliest memories are of people gathering at our house, enjoying themselves, and sharing music together.
One memory has stayed with me my entire life. When I was very young, my parents took me into a nightclub. In Thailand, children normally could not enter clubs, but somehow my father managed to bring me inside. I remember sitting between my mother and father, surrounded by disco lights, loud music, and people dancing. Even though the memory is vague, the feeling has never left me.
As a child, I loved dancing. Whenever music played, I would move. I loved performing, being creative, and expressing myself through rhythm and sound.
When I was around eighteen years old, I moved to Koh Samui and met DJs from the UK, France, and other parts of Europe. At that time, I started experimenting with music myself, mixing songs using two CD players long before I had professional DJ equipment. I mixed rock, reggae, and 90s music simply because I loved creating a musical journey.
What fascinated me most was watching people dance. I could see happiness on their faces. I saw strangers connecting through music. I saw people forget their worries for a moment and simply enjoy being alive.
That feeling changed my life.
I realized that I wanted to be the person selecting the music, creating the atmosphere, and bringing people together through sound.
Before that, I had been a drummer in local rock bands and often believed electronic music was somehow less “real” because it was made with computers. Over time, I discovered how wrong that assumption was. I began to understand the creativity, emotion, and artistry behind electronic music production.
The more I learned, the more I fell in love with it.
Full Moon Parties, festivals, clubs, and dance floors all reinforced the same feeling: music had the power to unite people and create unforgettable moments.
Unlike playing in a band, producing electronic music allowed me complete creative freedom. I could express my emotions, ideas, and experiences directly through sound. I didn’t have to wait for anyone else. I could create whenever inspiration arrived.
One night while living in Toronto, Canada, I had a dream that changed everything.
I dreamed I was performing in front of thousands of people. I had long dreadlocks and was standing behind the DJ booth. The experience felt so real that when I woke up, I could still feel the excitement in my body.
That morning, I made a decision.
I knew this was what I wanted to dedicate my life to.
Since then, I have spent decades learning, practicing, producing music, DJing, and constantly improving. What makes me most proud is that I taught myself almost everything through curiosity, persistence, and passion.
Today, I continue to learn every day. Whether it is DJ techniques, production, synthesizers, sound design, mixing, mastering, or new technologies, I remain a student of music.
Along the way, I have lived in Thailand, Canada, England, the Netherlands, Italy, and France. I have traveled extensively, met incredible people, and experienced many different cultures. Those experiences continue to influence my music and shape who I am as an artist.
People sometimes ask why I do not focus entirely on cooking, another profession I enjoy and have pursued successfully. The answer is simple: cooking is something I do, but music is who I am.
After all these years, I am still deeply connected to the same feeling that inspired me as a child—the joy of seeing people smile, dance, and connect through music.
For me, success is not a destination or a title.
Success is waking up each day excited to create, learn, share, and continue the journey.
And that journey is only just beginning.
