The Gault&Millau guide just held its 2026 regional ceremony for the South of France at the Hôtel Le Negresco in Nice. The Côte d'Azur had a very good night.
On March 30th, 11 culinary talents from the PACA, Monaco, and Corsica region received trophies in that iconic pink-domed palace on the Promenade des Anglais.
The top honor, the Gault&Millau d'Or, went to Dominique Lory of the Hôtel de Paris in Monaco, a chef who trained in the Ducasse tradition.
The Alpes-Maritimes department alone took home 5 of the 11 trophies, a remarkable sweep for a single department.
Among them, Aurélien Martin of Le Panier in Nice was recognized for his terroir-driven approach to sourcing, and Jean-Michel Llorca of Restaurant Alain Llorca in La Colle-sur-Loup received the Pastry Chef trophy.
Nicolas Rondelli of Les Pêcheurs in Cap d'Antibes picked up the Seafood Cuisine award, and La Passagère in Antibes was singled out for its hospitality.
The guide itself covers 432 restaurants, 237 artisans, and 132 hotels across the entire region - a serious document for those planning a food trip along the Riviera.
If you are heading to this part of France, this edition would be a very good place to start 🤩
