We enjoy meeting all of our guests, but have a particular soft-spot for our four-legged ones.

We know that our dogs aren’t just pets, they’re members of the family.

Our pet-friendly accommodation is perfect for couples with dogs, and our grounds are fully enclosed and safe to roam.

Olive and Elwood, our doggy ambassadors will show your furry pals around and make them feel right at home (they even helped with the renovations!)

French towns and villages are so welcoming to dogs, with most restaurants happy to accommodate your pooch, and plenty of shops and attractions allowing well behaved dogs.

If you want to know more, we can help recommend dog-friendly days out, suggest walks that will keep them active and arrange vet visits if needed.

Peach Melba pavlova (with extra crème anglaise natch) and mackerel pâté with Guinness bread. Two of the dishes we served to guests for a birthday celebration in our beautiful Cerisier gîte this weekend.

Also on the menu (but not photographed), supremes of guinea fowl, dauphinois potatoes, and courgettes, peas, mint and goats curd.

Such a delight to cook for the loveliest clients.

My lovely neighbour Marina Arapovic gave me a huge bag of gorgeous quinces from our garden. They made the whole house smell amazing before I even started cooking them.

I know they can be a bit intimidating as there’s a fair bit of processing to do before you can eat them, but they’re so worth the time and effort.

I love the way they change from a bland beige colour to a rich ochre-red after a long gentle simmer.

I’ve vac-packed nearly 2 kilos of poached quince, to put in the freezer. They’re brilliant with porridge or creamy yoghurt for breakfast, in an autumnal pavlova with chantilly and almond praline, or with almond cake and crème fraîche. I’ll also use them in my Christmas “quincemeat”, and Christmas puddings.

The extra bonus is that the poaching liquor can be transformed into jewel-like quince jelly - my favourite thing to have on a cheese board.

After all that quincing this morning lunch came from our own garden. The tomatoes that struggled so much in the heat this season are having a final hurrah at the moment and seem to be bursting with fruit.

I had seeded sourdough with fresh goats curd, our beautiful tomatoes and capers, and some gently roasted grapes.

🇬🇧 It’s been quite a week!

It started with a big bunch of family staying, which was such good fun (and hence the loaf of bread as big as Sam…) and included a trip to the vet for some poorly chickens, who are now on the mend 🤞

Friday was La Belle Cantine chez nous - our first more informal event - which was so much fun, so we’ll definitely be repeating.

On Saturday I had my own medical incident as I twisted my knee while picking up a chicken (you couldn’t make it up…). But I consoled myself that evening à demain Maurice in Najac for their Mexican menu. It was so delicious, but I’m not sure my knee benefited from hobbling over the cobbled streets to get there 😬 I did, however, get this amazing photo of the ancienne porte on the way, and somehow captured a ghostly apparition as well (ahem…Sam).

Two days of enforced rest, and my knee seems to be improving so I got back in the kitchen to make one of our favourite breakfasts of turmeric eggs from Lugma Noor Murad نور مراد - as healing and nourishing as it looks!

🇫🇷 Quelle semaine !

🇬🇧 We’re back from our Spanish holiday feeling rested, refreshed and full of inspiration and ideas...
..And we can't wait to see some of you on the 9th October for the Belle Cantine at our place. It's going to be a super-relaxed, evening with guinguette-style food - either falafel pitas or chicken gyros. Whichever you choose you can expect them to be stuffed full of the most delicious toppings. What’s your favourite way to eat them?

Alongside those, there’s fries to go with everything, of course; b**r and w**e; and gooey chocolate brownies for dessert.

Who’s coming? Book now via texto or email : 06 36 17 19 74 | [email protected]

P.s. take a look at what we snuck into our (already very overstuffed) car boot: some beautiful pottery from La Bisbal d’Empordà; a few cases of w**e, and some fabulous cava, sherry and vermouth. A few culinary delights - most exciting for me the sobrasada and the local plump and delicious anchovies. That should keep us going for the winter!!
