Just outside Catania, Tenuta Cardinale sits quietly within the landscape—an estate where history, hospitality, and nature feel completely in tune.
I was invited to preview the property ahead of its opening to private guests and events. With Mount Etna as its backdrop, it is already striking—but what stood out most was how considered everything feels. Restored architecture, calm interiors, and beautifully resolved spaces allow the experience to flow effortlessly, where even a Plan B feels like a natural continuation rather than a compromise.
It also carries a beautiful note of history, having welcomed Princess Diana and then-Prince Charles during their time in Sicily in the mid-1980s.
From the very beginning, we were so genuinely looked after. It’s something I value deeply, and something that truly shapes how a place stays with you long after you’ve left.
The experience unfolded slowly: an aperitivo overlooking Etna, an evening that began with an operatic performance and became a generous celebration of Sicilian food and wine under the night sky. The next day carried us from Ortigia by boat to Siracusa’s streets, ending with a long lunch none of us wanted to leave.
One thing I keep coming back to is how essential it is to truly experience a destination when designing a wedding there. It’s often in the in-between moments that the most meaningful details appear—the hidden piazza for a welcome dinner, the soft light in an unexpected corner, the places that quietly shape the atmosphere of an entire weekend.
Tenuta Cardinale feels like both history and possibility held gently at once—anchored, but open.
Deeply grateful to our hosts for their warmth, generosity, and care throughout the stay. Experiences like this are never just about the place, but about the people who hold it with such attention.
Grazie to and for the invitation and for including me in such a beautifully considered experience.
