Do you know there are 300 different sign languages around the world?

Let's take a look at 4 facts you all need to know : 👇🏽

🌏Some countries have more than one sign language.
For example, Canada has both and Quebec Sign Language (LSQ).

🌎Like spoken languages, sign languages have their unique grammar, syntax, and vocabulary, and can express complex ideas and emotions like spoken languages.

🌍Each sign is made up of five components.
They are hand shape, location, movement, orientation and non-manual components. Changing any one of them changes the overall meaning of the signs.

🌍Sign languages were not recognized as legitimate languages until the 20th century. At the moment, only 41 countries recognize sign languages as official languages.

Here are 5 long gone European languages for your curious minds. ☁️👇🏽

🌍 Old Norse :

A Viking language that disappeared during the 14th century.
Old Norse played a key role in the formation of the English , as well as other Scandinavian languages.

🌍 Mycenaean Greek :

Oldest language from the Hellenic group of Indo-European languages. Legal documents kept in ancient royal palaces and trading centres were written in Mycenaean Greek.📝

🌍 Gallic :

The language spoken by the Gallic tribes inhabited present-day France, Italy, and Switzerland. It has laid the groundwork for modern French, which includes 400 words with Gallic origins.
