Historic charm is epitomised by Le Manoir du Bout du Pont - from its Pigeonnier from the 16th century, the house itself from the 17th, the sun dial on its facade, the wisteria covered courtyard, the three acres of gardens and the huge 19th century barn of over 200 square metres. When the daughter of owners, Roddy and Angela Sharp, announced her engagement in 2015, it seemed the most natural thing for her to be married at Le Manoir. So, the seed was sown and with encouragement of family and friends, the idea of transforming the property into a wedding venue began to grow. The many posts on this page follow Le Manoir’s progress over that year and the first wedding took place in July 2016. Since then 35 couples have celebrated their wedding at Le Manoir. However, Covid put a stop to them in 2020 and 2021 but with 20 bookings for 2022, all is looking very positive indeed. Le Manoir is situated on the edge of La Sauvetat du Dropt, with a convenience store, tabac/cafe/restaurant, post office, and hairdresser. The bustling bastide villages of Eymet and Miramont de Guyenne, are both five kilometres away and Duras with its famous chateau is 12 kilometres away. The nearest airports with regular international flights are Bergerac (30 minutes away) and Bordeaux (90 minutes). The sundial indicates the core of the house was built in 1699, but its Pigeonnier dates from the 16th century (a National monument) and this suggests that there were earlier dwellings. Le Manoir is also let out as a holiday home and sleeps 12 people in six ensuite double bedrooms. There is also a gite with two ensuite bedrooms accommodates a four people. Further accommodation for upto four more can be arranged. During the peak season and for weddings or events, it is only possible to rent the house and the gite together, thereby having exclusive use of the entire property.
