“This Is My First Wedding…” 😄💍
One of the beautiful things about being a wedding celebrant is that every ceremony carries its own special memories — some emotional, some powerful, and some absolutely hilarious.
During one ceremony, as everyone settled in and the nerves were kicking in, I looked at the groom and asked jokingly:
Celebrant: “So brother, how are you feeling today?”
The groom smiled nervously and replied:
Groom: “Honestly Talatala… this is my first wedding.”
Without missing a beat, I looked back at him and said:
Celebrant: “Mine too.” 😂
For a few seconds there was complete silence… then the entire wedding burst into laughter — the bride, the guests, even the photographers couldn’t hold it together.
Moments like these remind us that weddings are not only sacred and emotional, but they are also joyful celebrations filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
As celebrants, we stand in serious covenant moments, but sometimes a little humor helps calm the nerves and brings everyone together. By the time the ceremony continued, the groom was relaxed, smiling, and fully enjoying every moment.
The Bible reminds us:
“A cheerful heart is good medicine…” — Proverbs 17:22
And truly, laughter has a beautiful way of turning nervous moments into lifelong memories.
Every wedding tells a story.
Some begin with tears.
Some begin with dancing.
And some begin with a joke that nobody saw coming. 😄
