Today, with hearts filled with sorrow yet strengthened by faith, we gather to celebrate the remarkable life of Mela Koro Veikoso, a beloved daughter of Qoma Island, Tailevu, with cherished maternal links to LomaniKoro, Bau Island, Tailevu.
Mela was a woman whose life was defined by humility, compassion, unwavering faith, and unconditional love for her family. She was the kind of person who welcomed everyone with a warm smile, offered words of encouragement in times of need, and lived each day with grace and dignity. Her kindness touched lives far beyond her immediate family, and her legacy will continue to live on through the many people she inspired.
She was a devoted mother who dedicated her life to raising and nurturing her children with love, wisdom, and faith.

Her grandchildren will forever remember her gentle embrace, her laughter, her prayers, and the unconditional love she gave so freely.
For the people of Qoma, Mela represented the values that have always been treasured within the vanua—respect, humility, service, and family. She lived not for recognition but for the happiness and wellbeing of those around her. Whether through her quiet acts of kindness, her support for her family, or her devotion to her community, she leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured by words alone.
The passing of Mela comes only weeks after the farewell of her beloved brother, Pen*semani Turagabaleti, Na Gone Turaga Na Tuinabulebulewa. Once again, the people of Qoma gather with heavy hearts as another treasured member of their family is called home. While the grief is deep, they are comforted by the knowledge that both brother and sister have left behind lives worthy of celebration and remembrance.
Today is not only a day of mourning, but also a day of thanksgiving. We give thanks for 73 years of a life well lived—for every lesson she taught, every sacrifice she made, every smile she shared, and every life she touched. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, her influence will continue through her children, grandchildren, relatives, and the generations to come.
As the people of Qoma, her maternal relatives from Soso, Bau, and loved ones from near and far gather to bid her farewell, may they find comfort in one another and in the promise of eternal life through Christ.

The Media coverage will commence at 5:00pm, as we accompany the late Mrs Veikoso from CWM Hospital to her family residence in Nadera, where viewing and other funeral formalities will be held.
