Flavor enhancer, ancient meat preserver, and... art supply?

The Romans brought coriander to Europe around 20 BC to preserve their food, but today, we’re using it for something a little more creative: stunning Cyanotype prints!

The Poppy has nearly 40 different nicknames across Catalonia! While mainly known here as the little rose, Rosella, it has many other nicknames...

Rooster Names: In Girona and Maresme, it’s often called gall, gallaret, or quiquiriquic because its vivid red petals resemble a rooster’s comb (cresta de gall).

Onomatopoeias: In Bages, you’ll hear pipiripip; in Tremp, peperepep; in the Vallès Oriental, badabadoc; and in the Penedès, quequerequec!

Monks and Nuns: In Balaguer and the Priorat, locals affectionately call them caputxins (Capuchins), flares (friars), or monjes (nuns).

Bit of a hard post for me, but hoping this might make things clearer, and help people understand why I set up Made My Dia and communicate in English (mostly).

Hopefully projects like Made My Dia can break down barriers and excite people about Catalan culture, and get people out of the city. Well that's the aim...

...the real work didn’t start until the noise stopped. I always knew I wanted to try and make the world a better place, but I didn't know how.

It’s only now, looking back at the empty calendar, that I realize I had to completely relearn what actually matters to me, and where I can make an impact.

I hope that getting people outside and creative, and learning about their local culture can do just that in some small way. Happy Friday everyone!
