Launched in 2007, Rock n Roll Bride is one of the biggest wedding blogs in the world. Updated daily, the site and it’s accompanying print magazine attracts quirky, alternative and creative readers from all over the planet. The brainchild of Kat Williams, the site came about while she was planning her own wedding in 2008. After becoming jaded by the limited offerings of the UK wedding industry, Kat saw a niche for alternative wedding inspiration and ran with it!

For Joanna and Derek, planning around their neurodivergence was really important. They made lots of practical choices to make the day conformable as well as aesthetic. “If you have a neurodivergent wedding with neurodivergent guests, having pre-plated food like a salad on the table when everyone sits down is always appreciated”, they explained. “Also having some sort of conversation starter really helps to alleviate social anxiety, as does sitting people with common interests next to each other.”

The couples who skipped traditions that didn’t feel right and built a day around the things they actually cared about instead.

That’s the stuff we love.

We’re always looking for real weddings, editorial shoots, articles and essays for both the website and the magazine. So if you’ve created something that feels a bit different, a bit personal, a bit you… we want to see it.

To submit a real wedding, email [email protected] with:

♥ 10–20 low res images
♥ Couple portraits and detail shots
♥ Your names, wedding date and location
♥ A few lines about what made the day special or why you think it fits Rock n Roll Bride

Dropbox or gallery links are absolutely fine too.

A couple of important things:
We do ask for first feature exclusivity for real weddings, which basically means it can’t already have been featured on another wedding blog or magazine before us. And please make sure both the couple and photographer are happy for the wedding to be submitted before sending it over.

We reply to everyone, usually within 2–3 working days.

Honestly though, we’re not looking for “perfect”.

We’re looking for weddings with heart, weddings with point of view.
Weddings where you can actually feel the people inside them.

Q***r weddings. Budget weddings. Maximalist weddings. Backyard weddings. Gothic weddings. Neurodivergent-friendly weddings. Weddings with dogs in bow ties and cakes held together with hope.

Looking back, there is only one thing they wish they had done differently. They skipped hiring a videographer because it felt unnecessary at the time. Since the wedding, they have lost both Karabo’s best friend and groomsman, Banele, and Mouse’s mother, Rowena Moir. “We are now left feeling like we wish we had video evidence of our beautiful day to replay over and over,” they admitted. “It’s really one of those things you don’t realise the value of until you lose someone.”
