Summer solstice is (almost) here! ☀️
On June 21, we hit a major turning point in Earth’s orbit: the summer solstice.
This is when the North Pole is tilted closest to the Sun, and the Sun takes its longest, highest path across the sky – giving us the longest day and shortest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.
It’s the start of astronomical summer, and from here on, daylight hours will gradually begin to shrink.
The solstice happens because Earth’s axis is tilted about 23.5° – and without that tilt, we wouldn’t have seasons at all.
So mark your calendars and make time to step outside and soak up the light while it lasts!
