Imagine 💡There is a huge land for sale right behind the two rivers at Playa Coson. One of the most beautiful areas near Las Terrenas. Who would like to see this area bought by the government and turned into a National Park? You know for the people. Just a little dream of mine.

🌧️ Opinion: This hasn’t been mentioned by anyone so far something only an elevated perspective can provide. La Cieba and the town floods each time it rains like this. No one talks about what Jumbo is doing here particularly the acres of stripped land behind it that you can’t see from the street. PLUS the center across the street and they are both hiding behind metal roof panels that they call a fence as a barrier to keep you from seeing. 💧 Look size of the excavated area behind Jumbo. When that’s all concrete and houses (they will make a community too behind Jumbo I hear) where is all the water going to go? This is going to be a disaster not to them but for everyone else. Do you see how jumbo is about 15 feet or more above the street level, let’s call that sea level ..and the same with the center across the street? These people ain’t stupid. They are brilliant. We all know this area floods hard when it rains a lot and they know it too. They hedged themself well. Las Terrenas not so much. The infrastructure to support the water that will no longer be absorbed into the ground I don’t see and unless I’m missing something it’s not there. Sure some water maybe diverted to the sides but I think it’s not enough as we have seen here before. Guess what that means next time this happens? It will be orders of magnitude worse in this area and the town. Jumbo will be an island due to the already bad situation and it will be making it many times even worse. Please someone correct me if I’m wrong but just like massive excavation behind the Commercial Leon for another development project floods by the gym all the time. It will be more of that many times over. All that area is down hill and higher than the street and the town below it. The pattern I see here is simple and it common here. You decide. If anyone knows of a plan for the water to escape here please share it.

Shaving brush trees flowering season in Samaná 🌺 🌊

For a few weeks between late winter and early spring, these soft pink blooms appear almost out of nowhere often on bare branches like little bursts of joy overlooking the ocean. Each flower only lasts a short time, but that fleeting beauty makes it even more meaningful. Cherish the times.
