In a world where many strive to balance work, family, and personal dreams, one woman continues to inspire through her quiet strength and unwavering faith. A mother, wife, nurse, pilot, and entrepreneur, she has shown that no role is ever too big when guided by purpose and determination.

In December 2023, she moved to Los Angeles, California, to manage a healthcare business—an unfamiliar place that challenged her to start again with courage and humility. Her journey began with two passions—aviation and business—values rooted in her mother’s advice to “think like a businesswoman.”

Years ago, her faith was tested when her son became paralyzed and faced uncertain recovery after spine surgery. Through sleepless nights and constant prayers at Simala Church, her son miraculously healed, strengthening her belief that faith can move mountains. For her, success isn’t measured by titles or wealth but by the ability to inspire others, especially women, to rise and be independent. She believes everyone is an instrument of God, helping others in their own ways, and draws strength from her son, hoping he sees her perseverance as an example.

Despite her busy schedule, she values weekends for family and simple joys like traveling or watching movies. She laughs when admitting that during meetings, she sometimes pretends to understand everything—then studies later so she can truly learn. Her advocacy focuses on empowering women through counseling, legal aid, and livelihood programs, reminding them that they deserve lives free from fear and control. Guided by her motto, “There is life after pain and light after darkness,” she continues to inspire others to keep moving forward, saying, “If I can do it, you can too. Laban lang!”

Her story is one of faith, resilience, and purpose—a reminder that with God and determination, we can all rise beyond life’s challenges.

he recently concluded Philippine Festival in Zurich, held last June 27–29, 2025 at Albisgütli Festplatz, brought together the vibrant Filipino community in Switzerland for three days of culture, food, and entrepreneurship. Organized by the Switzerland Association of Filipino Entrepreneurs (SAFE) in partnership with the Philippine Embassy in Bern, GMA Pinoy TV, and generous sponsors, the event featured over 40 Filipino-owned stalls showcasing authentic food, unique products, and services that highlight the creativity and resilience of Filipinos abroad.

Notable participants included renowned make-up artists Make Up by Mel and with their signature beauty products, Fresh Pearls by Pearls & Co. led by CEO Ms. Jeanette, and sweet pastry delights by and Stephanie Furter stephanie_furter Guests also enjoyed design and event management services from Jennifer Yong Leu and Kristina Maitre, refreshing drinks from Ube-Ube and Shutzengarten, and outstanding accessories and gems by Beeboo Universal Gems A wide range of Filipino street food, kakanin, general merchandise, and family-friendly activities like face painting added to the festive atmosphere. The festival was made even more memorable with the special performances of GMA artists Liezel , Joross Gamboa , Dennis Trillo , and Jennylyn Mercado , who serenaded the audience and delighted the crowd. As a highlight, Siomai King and JC Organic Barley generously sponsored a lifetime pangkabuhayan showcase, supporting Filipino livelihood and entrepreneurship within the community.

The Philippine Festival in Zurich 2025 was more than just an event it was a testament to the enduring spirit, talent, and unity of Filipinos, proving that wherever we are in the world, we carry our culture and passion with pride. Mabuhay ang kulturang Pilipino!

Filipinos Celebrate Paskong Pinoy sa Alemanya in Freiburg

The Filipino community in Freiburg and nearby cities gathered at Paulsal on Sunday to celebrate Paskong Pinoy sa Alemanya, marking the First Advent with an unforgettable evening of tradition, culture, and community.

The event attracted Filipinos from Freiburg and neighboring areas, all eager to experience the joy and warmth of a true Filipino Christmas celebration. It began with an impressive showcase of Filipino entrepreneurship. Ms. Jenneth of Pearl and Lust Co. captivated attendees with her collection of Philippine pearls and handmade crafts. Aris Flores from Bataan delighted the crowd with his flavorful lechon, a dish that evoked nostalgia for home. Meanwhile, Maricris Briones and her team, who also organize the spectacular event, prepared a selection of traditional kakanin, which quickly became a favorite among the attendees.

The celebration was hosted by Jon Lacsina, a nurse and model from Kalinga Apayao, whose energy and wit kept the audience entertained throughout the night.

The event’s cultural performances transported everyone back to the Philippines. A band played a mix of traditional Filipino songs and timeless rock classics, setting the mood for a lively evening. Guests were treated to mesmerizing traditional dances like Pandanggo sa Ilaw, performed with grace and elegance, and the ever-energetic Tinikling, which drew loud cheers and applause.

More than just a cultural showcase, Paskong Pinoy sa Alemanya served as a heartfelt reunion for Filipinos living abroad. The celebration drew attendees not only from Freiburg but also from nearby cities, underscoring the strong bond within the Filipino community. For many, it was a reminder of the Christmas as they cherished in the Philippines.

The event was made possible by the support of Deutsche Vermögensberatung AG (DVAG) and the Philippine Nurses Association in Germany (PNAG):

The evening was a resounding success, filled with music, laughter, and the warmth of shared memories. As the night came to a close, the smiles on the attendees' faces reflected the joy of celebrating Christmas together, even far from home.

Paskong Pinoy sa Alemanya truly showcased the resilience and unity of Filipinos, proving that the spirit of Christmas knows no boundaries.
