I love this story... In 1972, a then unknown performance artist named Dieter Meier installed a metal plaque outside Kassel railway station in Germany which read "On 23 March 1994, from 3 to 4 pm, Dieter Meier will stand on this plaque". 22 years later a group of people waited at the plaque to see if Dieter, who by this time was world-famous as one half of Swiss synthpop act Yello and who had huge hits with 'Oh Yeah' and 'The Race', would actually turn up. As promised, he did indeed show at 3pm on the dot and stood on the plaque for exactly 1 hour chatting with the appreciative fans. What a guy!
