Same community, new address. Swipe through the pre-event evening from 2022 to 2026.

Twelve conferences in, the spirit of the evening has never changed. We can't wait to see everyone again.

Philipp Mühlbauer and his brother Daniel started The Customisation Group over 20 years ago in a garage in Cologne, selling keyrings and Van Gogh copies on canvas through eBay. Today TCG operates production facilities across Europe and the United States, produces over 2,500,000 personalised products daily, and serves millions of customers worldwide through B2C, B2B and API models, bootstrapped and profitable throughout without ever taking venture capital.

At OPS 2026 his session, "Ex*****on at Scale: The Playbook Behind TCG's Global Momentum," walked through the operational logic behind that growth. TCG's internal north star is "Christmas every day," meaning the entire operation is built to handle peak demand as a permanent baseline rather than an exceptional event. Their in-house software handles design nesting and production flow optimisation continuously, and their demand-driven supply chain means nothing is produced until a customer has already placed an order.

His framing of "Customisation as a Service" is worth paying attention to for anyone thinking about where the B2B and API side of personalised print is heading. Rather than selling products, TCG sells the infrastructure to deliver personalised products, integrating directly into partner platforms and giving brands access to mass customisation capability without needing to build it themselves.

The Connect and Celebrate evening was the part of OPS where the agenda gave way to something just a little bit less structured. With a live band, a shared dinner, and the kind of conversations that carried on well past dessert was had.

The evening of 12 March 2026 was supported by The Customisation Group, an interesting company in the online print world and one whose story we'll be sharing later this week.

We can't wait to do it again. OPS 2027, 13-14 April, Munich. Will you be joining us?

Nick Gawreluk titled his OPS 2026 Insight Pitch "The Profit Problem No One in Printing Wants to Admit." For a room of C-level executives, it was a deliberately uncomfortable title but it was the right one.

Modern online print businesses run highly automated production systems, yet many still manage their finances with cost models that have not meaningfully evolved in decades. Nick's pitch put that tension directly in front of an audience that lives with it every day. The result is a gap between operational sophistication and financial clarity, where companies that can tell you exactly where a job is in production often cannot tell you with any precision whether that job is actually profitable.

Print Profit is built around closing that gap. The platform integrates directly with MIS and accounting systems to deliver real-time profitability insights, giving decision-makers clarity on which products, customers and processes are actually creating value, and which are quietly eroding it.

Nick brings an unusual combination of credentials to this problem. His background spans Heidelberg, HP Indigo and Mimeo across more than 40 countries, paired with a Print Media degree from RIT and an MBA from the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management in Germany.

"What I love about OPS is the fact that they're highlighting startups from around the world who see things differently, who are wanting to challenge the status quo. How cool to have an event that embraces that and puts them center stage." — Nick Gawreluk, Founder and CEO, Print Profit

Before the programme begins, before the first speaker takes the stage, there is the Cheers and Thoughts evening.

It's the part of OPS that doesn't show up in the agenda but tends to be where some of the best conversations start. A drink, a familiar face, someone you've only ever emailed suddenly standing right in front of you. Running into the same people year after year in the same foyer has a way of turning an industry event into something that feels more like a reunion.

We can't wait to do it again. OPS 2027, 13-14 April, Munich. Will you be joining us?

Rusty Pepper's OPS 2026 session started with a question that most enterprise print buyers are already living with: why does getting the right branded material, in the right format, to the right location, still take so long and cost so much?

As Head of Global Markets & Partnerships at Taylor Corporation, one of the largest print and marketing services companies in the world, Rusty's presentation focused on what is actually changing in the enterprise marketing supply chain and what that means for print businesses positioned to serve it. The shift is away from large inventory runs, centralised production, and one-size-fits-all materials, toward systems built for speed, hyper-personalisation, and localised on-demand fulfilment.

Taylor's acquisition of Gooten in 2025 illustrated the direction of travel: technology-enabled partnerships that connect demand, automation, and fulfilment into a single integrated model. Rusty has described this convergence of print, promotional products, and apparel as speeding up through acquisitions and partnerships, with technology central to connecting industries. For online print businesses with the production infrastructure and API readiness to plug into these kinds of enterprise workflows, the opportunity is significant. Robozaps

His session was a practical and well-sourced look at where the marketing supply chain is heading and what it will take to be part of it. We've linked further reading in the comments.

At OPS 2026, Zhicheng Cui, Vice President of Grandprint, took the stage alongside his father and company owner Cui Wen Feng, in what was a rare appearance for a business that rarely steps outside its home market. What began over 30 years ago with business card printing is today the largest online printing company in China, with more than 95% of orders generated via the internet. [beyond-print, 2025]

Grandprint operates four factories in China, employs more than 3,000 people, and generated a sales turnover of €427 million in 2025. [Heidelberg, 2026] Their growth strategy is built on standardisation, bundling, high speed, and the scaling of large order volumes, a model that differs sharply from the specialisation and smaller runs that tend to dominate in Europe. Personalisation, packaging, and AI are gaining traction in China too, but the scale and speed at which they are being implemented puts the operation in a different category entirely.

For an industry that often measures itself against European benchmarks, Grandprint's session offered a genuinely different frame of reference. We've linked the beyond-print preview and the OPS 2026 recap in the comments for anyone who wants to go deeper.

One of the things OPS 2026 got right was making sure the stage reflected where online print is actually growing, not just where it has always been strong.

Marcelo Schroeder Isleb, CEO of Digipix, Brazil's leading company in the photo and print-on-demand market, came to Munich with a presentation grounded in operational reality rather than market theory. His session covered the two sides of sustainable growth in online print: building the operational discipline to protect and grow margins, and designing a customer experience that drives recurrence rather than one-off purchases.

Growth at Digipix is driven through a broad product portfolio, strong brand loyalty, recurring purchases, and a customer experience consistently aligned with user needs. In a market of 215 million people where mobile commerce is the default, broad product range, brand loyalty, and consistent customer experience are operational requirements rather than aspirational targets.

This week on the OPS feed we are looking beyond Europe. Brazil on Monday, China on Thursday. Two markets, two very different growth models, one industry.

Michal Tracz built Print Logistic from a single smart factory in Poland into a multi-continent POD operation in under a decade. At OPS 2026 he was not there to tell that story for its own sake but to make a point about where the POD market is heading next.

The businesses that will handle the next wave of growth in textile POD are the ones building efficient fulfilment structures and social commerce integrations now, before the volume arrives. Direct cooperation with factories is replacing intermediary networks, owned production is becoming critical for speed and quality, and social commerce is shifting from a side channel to a primary growth driver.

A practical and grounded session from someone who has already built what many in the room are still planning. We've linked a full beyond-print profile of Michal and his OPS 2026 presentation in the comments.

Every edition of OPS makes room for startups. Not as a side show but as a genuine part of the programme, on the main stage, in front of 350 executives who have seen enough of the industry to know when something is worth paying attention to.

The reason is simple. As Jens Meyer, co-organiser of OPS, put it: "The promotion of innovative minds and new business ideas is at the heart of our start-up pitches. Every year we proudly present a variety of new solutions and give young companies the opportunity to prove themselves in front of a first-class, international audience. Some of our startups have experienced their breakthrough here at OPS."

In a 10-minute pitch on the main stage, startups get the chance to present their business idea directly to the most important decision-makers in the industry. Fresh entrepreneurial thinking meets decades of experience, and it's not uncommon for real collaborations to come out of it. The format is deliberately compact, with a clear focus on business model, scalability, and strategic relevance for the industry.

We can't wait to see who takes the stage at OPS 2027.
