Something you might not know about MXGP 🔧✨
Noise testing is mandatory, and is typically done during ‘technical control’ on a Friday. There is a sound limit, which in 2026 is set at 109dB for a 450cc motorcycle. However, there is a 2dB tolerance in place, which means bikes can pass at any reading under 111dB. To avoid taking any chances, the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team tends to take a spare Akrapovic exhaust to Technical Control to ensure their spare parts stay within these mandatory limits, which is why the mechanics are often seen changing an exhaust in the technical area as shown by Tim Gajser’s mechanic Nash Isle in this video!
