Turn your institution’s knowledge into agent training.

The new AI-assisted course creation tool in ICEF Train Your Agents quickly builds tailored training modules from existing PDFs, presentations, documents and images.

Courses remain grounded in the institution’s own source material, with full control over editing, approval and publication.

Combined with counsellor-level completion records and reporting, ICEF Train Your Agents gives institutions a practical way to create, deliver and evidence training across their agency partners.

The UK’s sponsored study visa approval rate, once higher than that of Canada, Australia, and the US, dropped sharply in the six months up to March 2026.

A comparison of data from the same period in 2024 shows that the number of rejections shot up across a number of key source countries, including Pakistan (41%), Bangladesh (26%), Ghana (26%), Sri Lanka (22%), and Nigeria (20%). At the same time, American and Chinese students became more likely to have their study visas approved.

With institutions also facing tighter compliance measures in international student recruitment, prospective students from Global South countries are finding that UK study opportunities have narrowed considerably.

That marks the end of another productive ICEF Asia. Over the past three days, Ho Chi Minh City has played host to the international education community, with 300 practitioners gathered to focus on international student mobility across Asia.

We would like to thank our sponsors for their support, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to ICEF Asia in 2027.

🇻🇳 It’s the final day of ICEF Asia in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the JW Marriott Hotel & Suites Saigon, hundreds of international education professionals are completing their final pre-scheduled meetings, building on three days of insight, discussion, and focused networking.

An essential component of all ICEF events is a strong focus on bringing together high-quality, experienced practitioners. To this end, every attending agency is carefully screened in advance. Additionally, at this year’s event, many are accredited with ICEF Agency Status (IAS), a global framework for international education agencies that provides potential partners with a clear, independent means of verifying their identity.

🇻🇳 After a full day of networking at ICEF Asia, delegates came together for an evening reception sponsored by UT Preparatory Academy.

With dinner and entertainment providing a lively atmosphere, the reception offered a welcome opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces, continue discussions from the day’s meetings, and strengthen new partnerships formed in Ho Chi Minh City.

Tomorrow, delegates return for the final day of pre-scheduled meetings, bringing three productive days of insight, networking, and collaboration to a close.

🇻🇳 Day two of ICEF Asia is underway in Ho Chi Minh City, with formal networking meetings now in full swing.

Over the next two days, delegates have the opportunity to hold up to 38, pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings, creating focused opportunities to build partnerships across Asia’s fast-evolving international student recruitment landscape.

The value of meeting in person is especially clear as student mobility patterns continue to shift. A new report from UNESCO, covered by ICEF Monitor, highlights how the big four study destinations remain dominant, but are increasingly being challenged by a number of countries, including Argentina, China, Egypt, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Türkiye, the UAE as key players.

Two key reasons for this shift include the growing number of students choosing to study within their own region and the “South - South” phenomenon, which sees students travelling within the Global South, where a number of countries are now positioning themselves as education hubs, rather than to the Global North, where education tends to be harder to access and more expensive.

Following an afternoon of insightful seminars, panel discussions, and roundtable debates, delegates at ICEF Asia concluded the day by taking part in a welcome reception.

Over the course of a meal and entertainment, they took the opportunity to discuss what they had learned, catch up with old friends, and make new acquaintances, all ahead of the formal networking sessions, which start tomorrow morning.

To effectively recruit international students, practitioners need to stay up to date with the latest market shifts. Here, at ICEF Asia, delegates are taking part in a series of seminars designed to support them within this rapidly evolving market segment.

This session, led by ICEF’s Martijn van de Veen, featured John Mahan (Westcliff University), Mich Paradella (Stanley College), Seran Dalvi (University Centre David Game), and Craig Fowler (Algoma University).

Focused on the lessons learned from the big four (Australia, Canada, the UK, and the US) and their experiences as the world’s leading study destinations, the session included practical tips on how to develop sustainable recruitment strategies in an era of instability.

It’s the first day of ICEF Asia, and delegates are currently participating in a series of seminars curated to update their knowledge of this important outbound student region.

In this session, Oana Leicu (SRH University) convened a panel on the problems of a one-size-fits-all recruitment strategy when engaging students across diverse countries.

With contributions from Jack Zissler (195 Global Company), Eden Villafranca Coronel (Emerged Visa Consultancy), and Dr Boontida Uapipatanakul (Shine Education), the panel identified a range of effective strategies, using examples from the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
