Pylontech Community's Kamel Silmy and EUPD Research's Daniel Fuchs explored the importance and necessity of environmental adaptability in C&I liquid-cooled energy storage systems during the recent webinar “Addressing Environmental Adaptability for C&I Liquid-Cooling ESS.”

🏭 In today’s world, clean energy is no longer just an ambition — it is an urgent necessity. How to achieve it through commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage systems, and why these systems are essential for balancing supply and demand, was illuminated through insights drawn from the white paper “High Environmental Adaptability for Commercial and Industrial Liquid-Cooling Battery Energy Storage Systems” by Pylontech Community and TÜV Rheinland .

🌱 However, the energy transition demands more than just efficiency — it requires resilience through environmental adaptability. Environmentally resilient systems help avoid costly failures, particularly when paired with the right materials and robust manufacturing processes that ensure those materials can be reliably processed in production.

This is where liquid-cooled ESS come into play: thanks to their superior thermal management and precise temperature control, they can significantly extend battery lifespan. These systems are available in compact cabinet formats for smaller-scale needs and in containerized solutions for larger energy capacities — offering flexible, future-proof options for diverse applications.

🇧🇪 C&I on the Rise: Belgium’s Rooftop PV Market Is Shifting

According to the latest PV InstallerMonitor© | EES InstallerMonitor© 2024/2025 by EUPD Research, PV installations in Belgium dropped by 61% in 2024 compared to the previous year, driven largely by a sharp 74% decline in the residential segment.
Despite a smaller dip in C&I installations, C&I and utility-scale systems made up over half of the newly added capacity during that structural transformation. Belgian installers identified commercial buildings and warehouses, as well as engineering and production sectors, as the primary industries for rooftop PV.
With this shift comes a growing demand for safe, robust and resilient energy storage solutions for the C&I sector.

Efficiency at Every Level: A Closer Look at RCT Power’s Latest Solar Solutions 💡

During their Booth Walkthrough at The smarter E Europe, RCT Power GmbH's General Manager Hauser presented a compelling line up of innovative solar technologies – ranging from smart residential setups to high-capacity industrial storage systems.

🏡 Residential Solution
Tailored for family homes, RCT Power’s residential system combines a locally manufactured inverter (Augsburg), battery, Battery Management System (BMS), and the possibility for an power switch – ensuring a seamless transition to backup power during outages.
According to Hauser, the system can deliver up to 80% energy savings compared to previous setups, thanks to its highly efficient engineering.

🏢 Commercial Applications
For small-scale commercial installations, RCT Power offers an inverter with a flexible input/output range of 15 to 30 kW. Its modular design allows 8 kWh battery units to be stacked into a tower configuration, reaching up to 64 kWh in total capacity.
For applications requiring greater performance, the CESS 200 provides a comprehensive all-in-one solution. PV modules connect to the cabinet, delivering 100 kW of output and housing a 230 kWh liquid-cooled battery pack – ideal for larger commercial demands.

🏭 Industrial Energy Storage
In the industrial sector, RCT Power introduces a robust cabinet solution with 900 kWh of battery blocks, including the AC inverter capable of 720 kW output. Inside are four battery packs, each with 46 kWh, along with a centralized grid connection and switching interface.
Available in 450, 700, or 900 kWh configurations, this system is engineered to meet complex industrial requirements.

At The smarter E Europe, Alec Curry, Product Manager at Atmoce walked us through a range of their latest innovations in smart solar solutions.

One of the products he covered during the Booth Walkthrough is ATMOCE's flagship micro inverter. It reaches up to 500 kW, which makes it the most efficient currently on the market, according to Curry. With its plug & play design, it’s easy to install and prioritizes safety by minimizing DC voltage wherever possible.

🔋 Next, ATMOCE presented a 7 kWh battery with a 5 kW max output. It stands out for its flexibility and can run with any PV system – or without one, leveraging dynamic tariffs. Designed with cell voltages below 30 volts, it offers high safety standards and a modular approach: each section comes with its own inverter, so output scales with capacity.

🧠 The smart hub of the system is the ATMOCE Combiner. It connects seamlessly with both ATMOCE’s and third-party devices, and can be fully installed in under an hour.
