TYGAPAW’s () live show charges a sonic atmosphere from the electrical poles of experimental techno, ancestral soca rhythms, and intimate recordings with their trans siblings. The assembly of sound summons a presence intent on disrupting those who accumulate value, profit, and power through extractive structures.

This performance in Tresor explores our proximity to such systems and asks us to make a choice: solidarity or resistance?

John T. Gast () presents the world premiere of Petrols, an intimate and deeply personal live project that foregrounds acoustic textures and improvisational form.

Gast feeds these raw sources through a bespoke pedalboard of pitch, loop, and distortion effects, creating dense, evolving sonic structures marked by dread, dissolution, and moments of fragile peace. While the work nods to aspects of Gast’s Gossiwor material, Petrols moves into looser, more exploratory terrain, shaped as much by vulnerability as by sonic weight.

Niecy Blues () is a composer, songwriter, vocalist, and multimedia artist based in South Carolina, originally raised on the prairie fields of Oklahoma. Her songwriting emerges like an undertow, pulling through simmering ballads, ghosted R&B, downtempo gospel and looped vocal improvisations - often within a single track.

For Berlin Atonal 2025, Niecy Blues presents a live set that channels this sensibility into a raw, hypnotic performance - a delicate weave of voice, electronics and improvisation that draws the listener into states of reverie, drift and luminous disorientation.

Oren Ambarchi, Johan Berthling, and Andreas Werliin perform at Berlin Atonal 2025 as Ghosted - bringing their singular fusion of jazz-rooted improvisation, psych minimalism, and Krautrock-informed repetition to the live stage.

With over two decades of collaboration, Ambarchi and Berthling have developed a near-telepathic interplay, crafting minimalist grooves shaped by subtle movement and hypnotic restraint, while Werliin’s skeletal percussion threads delicate, shifting patterns through the mix.

Berlin Atonal rounds out the music program for this year’s five-day festival at Kraftwerk Berlin (27–31 August). With over 100 artists appearing across multiple spaces and formats, Berlin Atonal 2025 deepens its commitment to experimental sound and collective experience.

Among the diverse voices added to the fold are: a new audio-visual show from Lord Spikeheart with NMR, a collab performance uniting Mark Fell and Okkyung Lee, a new sculpture/concert from Billy Bultheel, a charged new performance entitled Korean Love Sonnets by bela, Nina Garcia playing live, Rashad Becker playing live, a new Gavsborg concept for the Third Surface area featuring Kat 7, Tóke & groundsound, Richard Sides environment transfiguring concept Where are the hackers?, the first show by Wah Wah Winos’ Gombeen & Doygen, the debut of Sofii, LAMB K305, Tikiman & Arthur, Mouth Wound live in OHM, Civic Instruction (Hadone & UFO95) and TYGAPAW live in the vault. Hyperverbena is a new hybrid performance concept from Lechuga Zafiro () and Verraco ( ). The performance unfolds as a constant dialogue between DJing and electronic live ex*****on: extreme use of every feature of the mixer and players, deconstruction and re-arrangement of the musical material with external effects and frenetic playing of electronic percussion.

The quartet of Zack Borzone, Jack Tobias, Sam Pickard, and Saguiv Rosenstock (guitar) join the Berlin Atonal line-up as one of the most in demand live touring groups from America. Born during the lockdown as an experimental project between Borzone and Pickard in Philadelphia, the project expanded when they moved to New York.

That first release marked a phase of self-discovery, as the group developed a collaborative, tightly knit writing process and built the essential structures and feelings that define the singular sound of YHWH Nailgun () and particularly their live shows which are becoming increasingly famous.

The second-ever live appearance from anonymous American producer Topdown Dialectic (and first in Europe) lands at Berlin Atonal 25. Operating as a process rather than a person, Topdown Dialectic encourages listeners to focus solely on the sound, devoid of narrative or autobiographical frame.

Topdown Dialectic’s music is a record of shifting conditions and internal reactions. Despite its conceptual underpinnings, the result is hyper-sensory and emotive: a mesh of early UK warehouse bleeps, IDM fracturing and Basic Channel’s gritty spatial abstraction.

Berlin Atonal is proud to announce the first wave of artists for this year’s five-day programme at Kraftwerk Berlin (27–31 August), marking the festival’s official debut as a biennial. With over 100 artists across multiple spaces, Berlin Atonal 2025 continues Atonal’s mission to present radical experiments in culture and social interaction - with new commissions, world premieres and a reimagined audience environment called Third Surface.

Highlights include: Merzbow with Iggor Cavalera and Eraldo Bernocchi, Amnesia Scanner & Freeka Tet new project S.L.O.T.H., Lee Ranaldo, Peder Mannerfelt & Yonatan G*t, Puce Mary & Rainy Miller as GRIEND, Malibu’s new live show, vocal ensemble NYX, Ghosted (Oren Ambarchi / Johan Berthling / Andreas Werliin), emptyset’s new show dissever, Heith’s new show Escape Lounge with Bianca Peruzzi, John T. Gast’s new show Petrols, Djrum (playing live), Topdown Dialectic (playing live), Lechuga Zafiro & Verraco’s Hyperverbena project, DJ Marcelle, DJ E (Chuquimamani-Condori), St. Agnis, Moin, YHWH Nailgun, Niecy Blues, Purelink, Ziúr & Sandi with Martina Bertoni & Sara Persico, Jokkoo Collective’s Organic Intelligence, the new collaboration between Bendik Giske and Barker and more.

This is just the first artist announcement, the second wave of participating projects will be released on 09 July.

Berlin Atonal is happy to continue our collaboration with Lutruwita/Tasmania’s midwinter festival Dark M**o this June. We're inviting the legendary Marginal Consort as well as Space Afrika, Perila, Canzonieri and Christian Love Forum for three dreamy/scuzzy concert evenings. 13, 14 and 15 of June in Nipaluna/Hobart.

Festival Passes for Berlin Atonal 2025 can now be reserved. They cost 260 EUR plus ticket fees and allow full access to Kraftwerk, OHM, Tresor and Globus through the entire duration of the 5-day festival. You can secure your Pass by paying a non-refundable deposit of 100 EUR plus fees at the link below. The remaining 160 EUR plus fees will be payable after general ticket sales begin on 04 June, when the first program, ticket and schedule information will be revealed.
