Like the notes in a scale, the days that close and reopen cycles, the colors that split light into endless shades.
We’ve gone through seasons, people, shifts in rhythm, bursts of rushes of energy and deep silences.
Seven years is a symbolic time: a threshold, not a finish line.

Refracted’s music feels as fundamentally human as it sounds otherworldly. It is techno more as an idea and conduit, than as an easily- labeled sound. It is dance music where layered rhythms act almost on a neural, sub epidermal level, while moving and evolving soundscapes acquire a tactile, understated physicality. Paramount examples of this can be found on releases on Refracted’s own Mind Express label, and on celebrated labels like Bitta, PoleGroup, Semantica, Sublunar and Canadian ambient/deep-techno imprint Silent Season. With his path unraveling further, his sound has evolved beyond just techno, becoming a conduit for exploring the
boundaries of experimental and drone music.
Spiritual, almost meditative, his sets also possess a strong kinetic energy when needed, which is a clear indication of a DJ who knows the fundamental role of dancing as part of the ritual. He wants to take us somewhere, the “where” being of our own choosing, the trail never being the
most travelled.

Originally from Hildesheim, the artistic foundation of PAREKA was forged in the vibrant underground of a small German town, where he began organizing parties to make music accessible in an environment often resistant to non-commercial sounds. These formative experiences laid the groundwork for his artistic identity, fostering a deep understanding of the dancefloor and a strong emphasis on storytelling, an essential element that defines his DJ sets.

Moving to Berlin marked a pivotal moment in his career. Here, he founded BINÄR ( .berlin ), a vinyl-only label and podcast series that reflects his dedication to analog warmth and timeless grooves. Alongside this, the artist refined his craft working as a light technician in a prominent Berlin techno club, where he gained valuable insight into the interplay between music and atmosphere, transforming soundscapes into immersive and multisensory experiences.

PAREKA’s sound gravitates toward techno, characterized by meticulously crafted sets that stand out for their precision and narrative depth. Each performance evolves as a journey, gradually building toward hypnotic climaxes and captivating the audience from start to finish. Known for his closing sets, the DJ brings the night to a crescendo, blending hypnotic energy with seamless transitions that leave a lasting mark on the dancefloor. However, his extensive background in house and disco occasionally adds unexpected twists to his sets, show casting his versatility.

Next Friday at Deestricted, PAREKA will take the reins for the night’s final set, guiding the audience on an evocative journey through meticulously curated tracks, a closing act designed to leave a lasting impression.

Ukrainian DJ and producer Gael is one of the most intriguing figures in the contemporary techno scene. With a unique and distinctive approach, her DJ sets combine dark techno, industrial, and ambient sounds, creating dynamic journeys through pulsating rhythms and deep atmospheres. Her ability to maintain a constant narrative tension captivates the audience, transporting them into a complex, intense, and hypnotic sonic universe.

One of her standout tracks, “Nothing to Say,” created with Jolly and released on our label in 2022, masterfully blends intense rhythms and dreamlike atmospheres, perfectly embodying her style.

In 2024, Gael further strengthened her bond with Deestricted through her remix of the track “Alive,” featured in the EP “Interzone” by PH87 and becoming resident of our party.

Gael’s music represents the essence of our project. Don’t miss the chance to hear her on January 24 at .berlin

Biography

Deestricted is a Berlin based party, managed by the techno squad members from the event company Meet Compact Club. It is the darkest side who aims to explore the boundaries of raw industrial sounds through loud beats and ripetitive rhythms in several artistic ways. Sound of Deestricted is perfectly suitable for an ideal soundtrack for a compilation of erotic films intended to illuminate the points where art meets sexuality.
