Baldvin åpner for senior sjakk i hagen sin Onsdag 27 Mai kl 1200.
Det jobbes med å ha et opplegg utover året.Foreløpig blir det hjemme hos Baldvin annenhver Onsdag.Fint om de som vil/har lyst sier ifra til Baldvin slik at han vet om det kommer noen og hvordan interessen er.Kan bli en hyggelig stund med sjakk og kaffe.
Vel møtt.
Baldvin sin hage ligger på Hanserabben 27,1738 Borgenhaugen.

❝El final que nadie romantiza: Bobby Fischer murió casi solo❞

Los últimos días de Bobby Fischer no se parecieron en nada a la leyenda que conquistó al mundo en 1972. Lejos de los reflectores, de los aplausos y del tablero, pasó sus últimos meses en Reikiavik, Islandia, el mismo lugar donde había tocado la cima del ajedrez… y donde también terminó su historia.

Según registros oficiales y testimonios recogidos por biógrafos y medios internacionales, Fischer vivió sus últimos años con contacto muy limitado con su familia. Su madre ya había fallecido años antes, y su relación con su hermana y otros familiares era distante, marcada por décadas de aislamiento, desconfianza y conflictos personales. No hubo reuniones emotivas ni despedidas públicas. Fischer eligió el silencio.

En enero de 2008, su salud se deterioró gravemente por una insuficiencia renal no tratada. Lo más inquietante —confirmado por fuentes médicas islandesas— es que rechazó tratamientos invasivos, fiel a su carácter extremo y a su desconfianza hacia las instituciones. Incluso en sus últimos días, tomó decisiones solo, como si el mundo siguiera siendo un rival más.

Algunas personas cercanas confirmaron que no quiso reconciliaciones formales, ni visitas multitudinarias. Su vida terminó como la vivió durante décadas: aislado, lúcido, contradictorio. El hombre que enseñó al mundo a amar el ajedrez moderno murió lejos del tablero… y lejos de casi todos.

Quizás por eso su historia sigue dividiendo opiniones: ¿genio incomprendido, víctima de su tiempo o prisionero de su propia mente?
La respuesta depende de quién mire la última casilla de su vida.

Bobby Fischer’s final journey is often misunderstood.

He didn’t go straight to Iceland, nor did his exile begin there. After the U.S. government revoked his passport and issued an arrest warrant for violating sanctions, Fischer became a man without a country, punished not for a crime of violence, but for playing chess.

Serbia (then Yugoslavia) became his refuge. In Belgrade, Fischer was treated with dignity and respect, especially after the historic 1992 Fischer–Spassky rematch, a match played against political pressure, threats, and isolation. While much of the world condemned him, Serbia offered protection when few others would.

Years later, his situation worsened. In 2004, Fischer was arrested in Japan, detained for months, stateless and facing extradition. The chess world watched as one of its greatest geniuses sat in a cell, his legacy overshadowed by politics and controversy.

It was then that Iceland, the country that once crowned him World Champion, stepped in on humanitarian grounds. In 2005, Iceland granted Fischer citizenship, allowing him freedom at last. In Reykjavik, he lived quietly, away from the spotlight, where he finally found peace until his death in 2008.

Different countries. Different moments.
Refuge, exile, and finally peace, all part of the complicated life of one of chess’s greatest minds.
