Hailing from Italy and Australia respectively, Andrea Belfi and Jules Reidy are Berlin-based musicians and composers whose collaborative work investigates the edges of post-rock, minimalism and abstraction, blurring the lines between structure and improvisation.

On Friday, 22 May at the Kiezsalon season opening, the duo presents their 2024 debut album ‘dessus oben alto up’ for the first time.

They play alongside New York-based producer alice does computer music and Glasgow’s Susannah Stark & Band. Tickets via linktr.ee/digitalinberlin 🔗

NYC-based producer and cellist alice does computer music makes their Berlin debut at Schloss Britz for the Kiezsalon season opening on Friday, 22 May.

Their latest record ‘Bliss’ presents four distinct sonic ecosystems, each unfolding with its own internal logic over the course of ten minutes. These “elongated experiments do not feel written per se, but compiled, assembled, constructed, pieced together, and then expertly welded along the seams,” writes Bandcamp Daily in its Album of the Day review.

Alice plays along with Berlin-based duo Andrea Belfi & Jules Reidy and Scottish folk musician Susannah Stark with her band.

Belgian sound artist Natasha Pirard work lends analogue synthesis, tape loops, acoustic instrumentation, and voice into slowly unfolding compositions. She pays close attention to the sounds of everyday life and how they carry meaning, while small motifs emerge and unfold, returning in ways that trace patterns over time.

Pirard makes her Berlin debut at the Kiezsalon season opening on Saturday, 23 May, presenting her latest album ‘Fernande, Cecile.’ She plays alongside Maggie Nicols, KOOB, and Heli Hartikainen.

Berlin Carousel is a five-week program at the Akademie der Künste that reimagines the institution as a 330-year-old society of artists in active transformation. Conceived as an empirical exploration and a form of artistic research and practice, it unfolds as a temporary, open platform for concurrent, transdisciplinary artistic work.

More than 40 international artists from diverse disciplines will work over five weeks on projects that are continuously open to the public within a non-linear composition developed by Arnold Dreyblatt.

The program is running until Sunday, 7 June at the Akademie der Künste Hanseatenweg. More information via linktr.ee/digitalinberlin

For the Kiezsalon, pioneering vocalist Maggie Nicols will perform two intimate sessions inside the castle’s piano salon on Saturday, 23 May, ahead of the main program.

Born in Edinburgh in 1948, Nicols is a composer, musician, activist and actor who uses music-making in community settings to empower the powerless. In a review of her 2025 album with Dan Johnson, ‘Contact’, The Wire called her “one of a very few artists about whom it’s possible to say not only that she has an instantly recognisable presence and voice, but that she has invented a whole new art form all for herself.”

Admission for Nicols’s concerts are first come, first served and open to all Kiezsalon ticket holders. More info and tickets in our bio.

We open our Kiezsalon season in Neukölln at Schloss Britz — an 18th-century neoclassical manor house. On Friday 22 May, in the castle’s farmyard we present Berlin-based duo Andrea Belfi & Jules Reidy, Glasgow’s folk ensemble Susannah Stark & Band and the premiere of New York cellist and producer alice does computer music.

alice does computer music’s 2025 album ‘Bliss’ presented four 10-minute collages weaving together sound design, diaristic field recordings, classical orchestration and lyrical passages to evoke states of transcendence and disintegration.

We return with new venues, new artists and new adventures. This year's program features over 50 artists, more than half making their Berlin debut, across seven venues.

From May to September, you'll find us in castles, churches, bunkers and on balconies all across Berlin, and further afield in Brandenburg. We open the season on May 22–23, once again at Schloss Britz—the idyllic 18th-century neoclassical manor house in Neukölln.
