Neil Landstrumm – Brown By August (2LP) — Peacefrog Records, PF040XX
20th anniversary pressing. Transparent green vinyl. Limited to 300 copies worldwide. This was the last run. Ever.

For those who don’t know this record — it’s Landstrumm’s debut LP, dropped in 1995, and it’s never really left the conversation since. 11 tracks of wonky, abrasive, Chicago-influenced techno from Edinburgh. The kind of record that sounds like nothing else and still doesn’t.

The title alone has a story. In an interview from a midwest US fanzine in ’95, Landstrumm explained it came from the he**in epidemic hitting his neighbourhood — “people started saying everyone would be smoking brown by august.” That darkness is all over the grooves.

Mastered via DMM at The Exchange. Pressed by MPO. And on the original pressing, the labels actually read “Brown Before August” — a detail that’s been driving collectors mad for 30 years.
300 copies on green.

Check out the options

1: Paul Johnson – Bump Talkin (Cousin label / Peacefrog)
Paul Johnson was a Chicago house icon and a major inspiration for Daft Punk and the French Touch scene. This 1995 debut album is a classy mix of deep soulful house and harder, more techno-style house beats. A true cornerstone of the genre.

2: roscius – WMD #1 (Muta / Because Editions)
A very limited hand-labeled white-label 12”, numbered 27 out of only 50 copies, with artwork by MrScnillo. Side A features “Gouttes” in both its original and rework versions, while Side B holds “The Royal Albert Hall.” It’s a rare, intimate release — the kind of thing that barely surfaces outside collector circles.

3: The orange 12” on Cousin Records – “Sweet Like Money”
This one’s on the same Cousin label, with “Sweet Like Money (Mix 2)” and a “Version” on Side A. Cousin was a small underground house imprint, and records like this were staples in DJ record bags in the ’90s

BIMBAU x Wumanas. - Every track in this set was produced by a woman, and each one carries the spirit of female empowerment that I want to amplify. It’s not just about the beats, it’s about paying homage to the women who have fought to be heard and who push the boundaries of sound and creativity.

2 Bella Boo - Rain On Me
3 Mija - Sweat It Out
