CLUB CULTURE CONVERSATIONS, Episode 1 – How Black Culture Has Shaped the Club Scene in Germany

Should clubs bring together people who wouldn’t otherwise meet? Or do people need to have things in common so that everyone feels safe and comfortable?

In the first episode of our second season of “Club Culture Conversations,” voguing legend Sophie Yukiko .yukiko and Berlin bouncer Smiley Baldwin talk about their first nights out at clubs, Black culture, and its formative influence on the German club scene.

From Berlin in the ’80s to Cologne in the 2000s, the conversation covers music, American soldiers and their clubs, door policies, and the question of who gets access to club venues.

And what does all of this have to do with Atréju from “The Neverending Story”? Find out. 🎧
