Wow, what a weekend! Another The Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational Barbecue is in the books and we are super proud and excited we could be part of it! What a company of top teams from all over the world!

This „Jack“ is long to be remembered! From the legendary Byron´s Butt Ranch party for the International Teams, cool party on the Hill, meeting old friends and creating new ones, to having a walk!
The weather was perfect and we didn´t even need to pull out our rain boots😂 (as we were well prepared).

Even though we were a little rusty after not competing for few years, we had couple warm up rounds at the American Royal World Series of Barbecue Invitational and Open.
We were happy with the cook and all of our turn ins.
We got:

1st🥇 place in Cooking from the homeland
22 place in chicken (best International)
25 place in ribs
64 place in pork
54 place in brisket

Overall 35th place out of 83 teams.

Our dessert, a pecan pie cheesecake didn´t do too well and finished in a 50th place (even with couple 7s for appearance🤪).

Congratulations to Heavy Smoke BBQ on GC and Good Googly Goo BBQ on RGC.

A special congrats to our good friends Tom and Dorine from Southern Dutch BBQ on their great results (3rd place brisket🥉, 10th place overall! We are very happy for you, guys!

Big thank you to BBQ EUROPE for making it possible, Yoder Smokers for letting us use as many smokers as we needed, Morgan Ranch Beef for the brisket, Byron Chism for letting us stay at the Ranch and the cool party.

It was great to see you guys!

All ready to go at the Jack for Smoke in the Hollow! Last night was a great annual party at Byron’s Butt Rub Ranch, today was wine tasting with Southern Dutch BBQ, and tonight was the Jack Daniels party. We will put our meat on the smokers tonight and turn them in tomorrow to the judges. Good luck to all the teams!

It’s chokin’ time at Day 2 of the American Royal! 🤪Yesterday was the Invitational with 250 teams, today is Open to everyone with over 500 teams.

We haven’t cooked a contest in 4 years and it definitely showed against the top teams in the world. We were pretty happy with our turn ins yesterday except for our brisket abomination box which turned out to be our lowest scoring box ever 😫. The rest were okay all things considering, with chicken being our best turn-in.

We are just happy we get to experience the Royal and we understand now while all the teams consider it a must-do and a favorite contest!

We are now waiting to find out our Day 2 results for the Open. We feel our turn-in boxes were all better than yesterday.

Time to fire up the competition pits!

Next weekend we will compete in the American Royal Invitational and Open double-header contest in Kansas City - the largest BBQ contest in the world.

Two weeks later we will head to Lynchburg, Tennessee for the Jack Daniel's World Invitational.

It's been awhile since we have cooked competition BBQ but hopefully we will be able to turn in some respectable entries to the judges - just don't want to be last! 😅

Our Yoder was at a demo today so we busted out the Cook-Air which goes with us everywhere on the road. This little wood burning inferno is a steak beast! Great sear on some beautiful Uruguay ribeyes.
