Laurent Garnier is a true master of DJing. Musically, he’s very close to my heart because he can travel through so many styles within one set – exactly the way I love to play as well.
The atmosphere at Roxy on Saturday was amazing from start to finish, and once again Laurent proved that you don’t need big hits to keep the crowd moving. A perfectly balanced and beautifully crafted set that grabs you, hypnotizes you, and then does whatever it wants with you. :)
Since people often talk about Laurent slowly retiring, I decided to pay him tribute in a slightly unusual way – by playing Édith Piaf’s Non, je ne regrette rien.
It fit the night perfectly, both thematically and emotionally. And in the recording, you can even hear Laurent saying, “Nice!” as we shake hands. :)
For me, it was also a very emotional night, as it was probably my last gig of the year. So here’s my set after the master himself. I kicked it off right after the intro to make it clear the night wasn’t over yet. I went through a range of styles – so for those who stayed, I hope you enjoyed it.
Massive thanks to Roxy Prague for the trust, and to Lenka Senová for making it possible to bring such a name to such an intimate club.
And let’s all hope the master Laurent Garnier returns to Roxy Prague again one day.
