We are delighted to introduce our final Plenary Speaker for CHISA 2026—the incredibly inspiring Professor Edwin Zondervan from the University of Twente, The Netherlands!

On paper, Edwin is a major heavy hitter in Process Systems Engineering, specializing in complex optimization, digital innovations, and sustainable design. He leads a massive group of researchers and is the Editor-in-Chief of Physical Sciences Reviews. 🏆📊

But on the stage, he is known for something truly special: his passion for creative outreach and making science fun.
In Prague, he will be delivering a beautifully unique keynote lecture that you won't hear anywhere else: 💡 "Reclaiming Wonder: How Stories, Hobbies, and Play Revive Our Discipline"

How do you take a brilliant lab discovery and scale it up to change lives worldwide? 🧪🚀

We are proud to introduce our next Plenary Speaker for CHISA 2026—the brilliant Dr. Josef Chmelař from Contipro a.s., a global leader in biomaterials!

Josef’s journey is the ultimate example of chemical engineering in action. After earning his PhD at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, he jumped into the industrial world at Contipro. Today, he leads cutting-edge R&D projects, turning hyaluronic acid into advanced medical devices, polymeric films, and hydrogels. 🩺🌐

At CHISA, he will be pulling back the curtain on the real-world challenges of industrial manufacturing with his keynote lecture: 💡 "Scaling up biopolymer processing: taking hyaluronan-based materials from the laboratory to pilot scale and beyond"

Necessity is the mother of invention. How is it driving the future of chemical technology? 💡🔬

We are honored to introduce our next Plenary Speaker for CHISA 2026—the globally renowned Professor Dmitry Yu. Murzin from Åbo Akademi University, Finland!

If you’ve studied chemical engineering, industrial chemistry, or catalysis, you have likely read his work. Professor Murzin is a well known in our field, having co-authored an incredible 1,000+ peer-reviewed articles and 3 foundational textbooks, alongside holding multiple patents and bringing valuable industry experience from his years at BASF! 📚🏆

In Prague, he will take the stage to deliver a keynote lecture: 💡 "Advancing Chemical Technology: Necessitas est mater artium"

As the head of the “Membrane Technology for a Sustainable World” group, she has authored over 170 publications with a massive 10,000+ citations, and serves as a Council Member of the European Membrane Society. 🏆📚

We are proud to introduce our first Plenary Speaker for the CHISA Congress— Professor David Shallcross from the University of Melbourne!

If you are involved in chemical engineering education or publishing, Professor Shallcross is a name you definitely know. He is the recipient of the 2024 Chemeca Medal (the highest honor in the profession for Australia and New Zealand), a former Vice President of IChemE, and the Founding Editor-in-Chief of Education for Chemical Engineers. 🏆🎓
In Prague, he will be hitting the stage to tackle one of the most important topics of our time: 💡 "Academic integrity in the age of artificial intelligence."

Headline: Behind the science, there’s a story. Behind CHISA, there’s a team. We often talk about the "WHAT" of the CHISA Congress—the breakthroughs, the data, and the future of engineering. But today, we’re pulling back the curtain to show you the "WHO".

🏛️ The Leadership Steering the ship are Jiří Drahoš (Congress Chair), Juraj Kosek (Chair-elect), and Milan Jahoda (Vice-Chair). They are the bridge between our long scientific legacy and the innovations of tomorrow.
