Some shows feel just right. Like somehow the event has good Feng Shui. Last night was one of those nights for me. I could tell from how solid my soundcheck sounded, and the layout of the venue, down to the green room, that a lot of care is put into the shows there. And when that’s in place, it creates an ease and spaciousness for those of us performing. And there’s a second layer that I love that can happen naturally, which is the synergy between the artists. For this show, Desert Dwellers, Skysia, and I all organically decided to run one big merch table together, rather than pay someone to vend for us, which gave us not only a wonderful chance to connect with our fans all night, but as each of us performed, the rest of us took over helping with the sales for the artist on stage. I’m happy to say, I sold out of every last vinyl I brought (I really need to bring more than 15!), along with my last T-shirt, half of my necklaces, and I’m down to my last 2 hat pins. Atlanta cleaned me out 🫶
Another way I love to see artists naturally working together without any sort official plan to do so is media coverage. We didn’t hire a photographer. Flight and hotel prices are so high now, there really isn’t a penny to spare for us musicians nowadays. I always try to do some phone footage for everyone when I can, but towards the end of my set, I heard Skysia yell “Hey Eartha!” from behind me, and he surprised me by taking the lovely stage photo you see here (tho I look like a dork because I never quite know how to pose for these things 😂).
The energy that goes into making this music, planning the events, the travel, and the performance can be a big exertion, but this was one of those nights that fills that tank back up with much more that it took 😊 Thank you Atlanta, Terminal West, and Pivotal Agency for the lovely evening, and the Still Seeing Things tour continues with all of us plus Entangled Mind in just two weeks time in my (and Entangled’s) hometown of BOSTON 🙌
