⋆｡ﾟ🌊｡Kataklysmos is one of the oldest public cultural events in Larnaca, dating back to the 19th century. The Feast of the Flood is celebrated on Pentecost Sunday and Holy Spirit Monday and draws its roots from the Genesis of the Old Testament, from Greek Mythology and Cypriot Folklore that is connected to the Goddess Aphrodite being born in Cyprus. The customs of the Flood as they are performed today are undoubtedly very different than earlier times, the feast evolved in various narratives, politics and aesthetics, even so persists to attract hundreds of people from all over the island in Finikoudes coastline to be a part of this experience.

The group exhibition showcases 6 local artists from different artistic disciplines, who will present an experimental *multi-sensory environment of coexistence and dialogue between the artworks and their interaction with the public. The exhibition brings together paintings, ceramics and sculptures, illustrations, sketches and photography prints, video projections and installations.

Learn more about the art of sculpture and ceramics and experience working with earthenware clay, a natural material that we have been using since ancient times for pottery, sculpture, building materials etc. You will learn techniques and ways in which you can shape the material, join forms and experiment with its plasticity to create small-scale works of art, 3d models, useful objects or simply express your feelings and ideas!

🏺Explore your imagination, re-discover your sense of touch and learn about the ancient history of ceramic sculpture and pottery!

We will offer individual guidance and experiment with natural clay and raw materials in a range of techniques, including handbuilding, modeling, decoration and glazing. Additionally, we have planned exciting off-site projects to inspire and encourage new sculptors, while also allowing experienced ones to enhance their skills and build upon their existing experience.

We aim to cultivate a supportive and inclusive environment where creativity becomes a tool for growth, discovery and connection within the community. Share your knowledge, skills and passion with others, and get to know what it feels to be a sculptor! 🗽

* Adults, all levels and all materials included (clay, underglazes, glazing, firings and refreshments). Also note that your creations will be fired in a kiln twice and this process might take 2-4 weeks! No worries, we’ll let you know when you may come to pick it up 🙂

Sculpture in stone and clay survives far more than works of art from perishable materials, and often represents the majority of the surviving works from ancient cultures. As an abundant and natural material, its properties are diverse, changing throughout history but the possibilities for expression are unlimited because the malleability of clay can shape it into any form imaginable 🚀

PS. Yes! Thank you for ALL your requests, your eagerness to learn more about ceramics. We also wanted to clay play together again this year, so we improved our operations, materials and consistency of our education programme to find the balanced sweet spot.

Hey this is Eirene 🫶 This photo was taken in 2017 during a full rennovation that was transforming my fathers signmaking workshop to what we call now EVOHK artist-run space.

It has been a crazy ride getting as far as here! 🛼 For me, EVOHK is the most enjoyable, unpredictable and interactive artwork I have ever made. And no, this is definetely not a job for one. It could not be the same without all the love and support of the most amazing people that we have shared the same dream, an artist-run space as a living organism, an evolving model of experimentation and collaboration between artists and community.

So here it is, my motivation revived

EVOHK is a social initiative that aims to make art accessible for everyone and expose its ability to challenge perceptions, inspire and transform oneself and society as a whole.

MAKERS FAIR /24 the technology and creativity festival will take place on Sunday, 2nd of June 2024, from 16:00 to 22:00, at the Youth Makerspace Larnaka, inviting professionals and amateur makers to meet in an environment of inspiration and idea evolution. Additionally, the festival is open to all ages, aiming to introduce the public to the capabilities and processes of the technological equipment available at the space.

📍2nd of June, 16:30 - 18:30 Clay Sculpture Workshop in collaboration with Eirene Constantinou , Ίδρυμα Πολιτιστικής Δημιουργίας - Larnaca Cultural Foundation and Youth Makerspace Larnaka team!

🏺Join us to experience the art of sculpting and create your 3D clay object! The aim of the workshop is the exploration of imagination and creative expression and the development of motor/technical skills with a natural material that we have been using since ancient times until today.
