In a bilingual ceremony, every word matters — not just the beautiful ones, but the ones that make everyone feel included.
When I say “blessing,” I don’t mean a ritual or something tied to a single belief system.
I mean its origin: bene dicere — to speak well.
To choose language that honors, welcomes and names the good.
Years ago, while preparing a wedding in Cartagena, a priest reminded me of this truth: a blessing is not a formula. It’s a responsibility. It’s the moment when words become care, when presence becomes love, when your ceremony becomes a space where every guest feels considered — in both languages.
This is why I invite two loved ones to offer “blessings” during your ceremony.
Not speeches. Not obligations.
Just honest, human words that carry goodness into your marriage.
