Still processing how amazing has been 🇨🇴 last month.

ICYMI it wasn’t just that I got to taste all of the Colombian food I could, but I was actually invited to represent at one of the most important events in the Latin American music industry, and it still feels completely surreal. Twenty slides are not enough to express what has been one of my most important human and professional experiences in the music field to date.

« Sorry, did you just play tribal prehispánico? » is the first thing said to me when we met in September 2016 in Nancy at a party organized with a mutual friend (coucou Simon). We had just launched Plage Club, a series of events that hosted artists like , , , among others.

When I arrived in Mexico in 2011, my first memories are a pig’s snout and ear taco and my friend who introduced me to (but also Los or digital cumbia, but that’s another story). In 2014, I had the chance to attend the TRIBAL conference at with a DJ set by and, also with Aldo, we interviewed & (still on CxC’s YouTube). In 2018, I met by chance the iconic prehipánico tribal producer in Monterrey when I had the honour of playing at one of ’s parties. Recently, we invited the tribal experimenter to Paris during a joint + CxC event, and released a tribal-influenced EP by on , with a remix by .

So tonight, we’re coming full circle, it was time to share our common passion and pay tribute to one of the most incredible contemporary musical genres: tribal mexicano. It’s a rather vague term that we chose to encompass all the variations of the genre: prehispánico, guarachero, costeño and étnico.

A big thank you to my friend Scarlett for the invitation to her residency.
