The Beishian Theatre is at the heart of this beautiful district. Lose yourself inside as you walk through this converted temple. Filled with historical artifacts by day, and filling the Beishian streets with beating drums by night!

French Blues on the Mekong

PEEMAI(France)

Peemaï’s music is a traditional southeast Asian based music from Myanmar to Indonesia. The Hindu-Buddhist influence in this area of the world has created an inspiring evolution of the musical trend, reflected by distinctive musical instruments such as the birman sang gauk (harp), the lao khène (mouth organ), etc. Inspired by these colorful influences, the four musicians have chosen to make their melodies and sonorities. The tunes of Molam (rural blues from Laos and the Issan region of Thailand) are mixed with electronic and reggae resonances. The “sacred” melodies are mingled with deep, pleasant sounds in the way of John Coltrane and Jimi Hendrix.
Its hypnotic rhythms and haunting melodies offer a unique musical set: a complete fusion with traditional Asian music, jazz, rock, and European culture.
