What does KIZOMBA have in common with BRAZILIAN ZOUK?

One of the first common traits between the two is that most songs are sung in Portuguese, being Kizomba sung in African Portuguese and Zouk in Brazilian Portuguese. Perhaps because of that, there is some confusion between Zouk and Kizomba, being the first sometimes, in Portuguese speaking countries, being confused with the second. In the page of Wikipedia, it states that “Currently, in Lusophone (Portuguese speaking) countries and communities around the world, due to it being difficult to distinguish between Zouk, Cabo love and Kizomba, all these styles have been called kizombas”.

Kizomba has its origin in Angola (from the more traditional dance style Kimbundu), and it spread out in Portugal through the Angolan communities living specially in Lisbon and surroundings and in France through the Cape Verdean communities, who mixed it with Caribbean Zouk elements. On the other side of the Atlantic, Brazilian Zouk is the successor of the 80’s dance Lambada, and it picked up the Caribbean Zouk rhythm to make it its own and develop its independent dance style.

Nowadays many songs can be danced both with Zouk steps and Kizomba steps. Both are sensual dances with songs that usually related to love themes. Following is one of the popular songs that can be danced both with Zouk and Kizomba steps:
