VIEW | 🫁➡️🧠 How does severe lung injury affect the brain during critical illness?

Neurological complications, from delirium to long-term cognitive impairment, are increasingly recognized in ICU survivors, yet the mechanisms behind lung–brain interactions remain poorly understood.

🔬 Recent advances in lung and brain organoids, together with organ-on-a-chip technologies, are opening new possibilities to model complex inter-organ crosstalk, simulate clinically relevant conditions such as ARDS and ventilator-associated injury, and accelerate translational research in critical care medicine.

💡 A promising direction for understanding multiorgan dysfunction and developing future therapeutic strategies.

Industry | In Vitro Diagnostic Industry in China - Instruments and Reagents X——

Only 40% of hospitals currently utilize automatic blood grouping analyzers, while manual and semi-automatic testing still account for 60% of usage. However, accompanied with promotion and application of fully automated test devices, the market size of automatic blood grouping analyzers is expected to surpass manual/semi-automatic instruments within the next 3–5 years. With over 7,000 Grade II hospitals across China, the future demand for automated blood typing solutions remains significant.

VIEW | 🧪 Could diagnosis become more accurate with fewer unnecessary procedures?

A new study explores how plasma extracellular vesicles isolated through a simple aqueous two-phase system could support more precise and accessible prostate cancer detection.

Instead of relying only on PSA, researchers combined EV biomarkers with machine learning to create a two-step diagnostic model:
👉 screening benign vs. cancer cases
👉 staging localized vs. advanced disease

Interestingly, different biomarkers played different roles depending on the diagnostic goal, with PSA helping screening, while EV markers like CD81 and PSMA showed stronger value in staging.

The approach may help reduce diagnostic errors while simplifying testing, offering a promising direction for scalable and noninvasive prostate cancer diagnostics, especially in resource-limited settings.

VIEW | 🧬 are no longer just detection tools - they are becoming smarter diagnostic components.

A new review shows how antibody discovery in is moving far beyond traditional affinity and specificity, toward assay-aware design that improves real-world test performance.

With advances in single-B-cell screening, phage display, and AI-assisted design, antibodies are increasingly being engineered as part of the entire diagnostic system, not simply selected as binders.

As diagnostics become more precise, the future may depend not just on finding the right antibody, but on designing how it performs inside the test itself.
