Joscelyn and Beth did me a real favour recently. They modelled for my photoshoot at Alter Albion which is my new ceremony only venue located within in Brisbane.

This was my favourite photo of the day, and even though I didn’t legally marry them, Beth gifted Joscelyn a mug with ‘Wifey’ and the date of their ‘wedding’.

If you’re looking to get married in 2026, here is my PSA to book your wedding vendors NOW!

Almost 50% of my enquiries come through over that Christmas/New Year and January. And this means that popular dates are snapped up.

I know of at least one venue who no Saturdays in October 2026 available. I, personally, only have two left.

So my suggestion to you is book your venue, then your photographer and Celebrant asap, especially if you have a specific vendor that fits your vibe and vision for your day.

Yes, Jillian’s vows were really on that very long piece of paper. But, there’s a very good reason why they were this length.

You see, Jillian is a celebrant, and had a great vision of how she wanted her ceremony to go. Part of this was for me, as John and her celebrant, to keep the telling of their story to a minimum. This allowed her vows to incorporate not only promises to John, but a recap of many of their relationship highlights.

It was hilarious and heart-warming. Not a dry eye in the house.

Also Jillian is the fifth celebrant I’ve married. Does this make me ‘The Celebrants Celebrant’?!!

A little shout out to my amazing community.

As some of you may know, I’ve opened my very own wedding venue (please give it a follow on ) and recently had a photoshoot, where I ‘married’ four couples.

I put a call out to friends, family, and celebrants for models, and they turned up for me BIG TIME!

Honestly, it was quite overwhelming (I may have cried at one point) to see 30 people give up their Sunday as I bossed them around for four hours. Just incredible.

And then, at one point, my friend could see I needed a bit of extra fizz to keep me going and kindly shared his champagne with me. What a bloody champ!

There’s so many people who went above and beyond that day. My friends who donned themselves in wedding attire, including my friend Beth who bought a whole bridal outfit from charity shops, and Zoe who cleaned her wedding dress and made her husband wear his suit. My friend who took unofficial photos and Kirsty who took the official ones My friends Andy and Jonas who ‘married’ for the second time (they’ve been models for me before) .shantz My friends Ita and Dan who ‘married’ despite having never met, and who lent Ita her wedding dress. My friends Hamish and Emma who created the most beautiful plant design. My friends .brisbane who opened up on a Sunday so we could enjoy champagne and canapés in their bar. My sister who ‘married’ Beth, and also steam cleaned 50 chairs.

Plus each and every person who got dressed up on a Sunday and came and supported my new venture.

Just so very, very blessed.

Amylee and Luke had this super fun game at their wedding reception where I was MCing.

A variation on the Heads or Tails game, all guests had a Challenge Coin, and as I asked a series of questions about Amylee and Luke, guests would hold up the coin or place it in front of them.

Some of their guests took this game VERY seriously, determined to be the ones who knew Amylee and Luke the best. And it wasn’t any surprise that one of the winners was Amylee’s sister.

Such an amazing wedding and fun reception, and I’m so grateful to have been involved.

I remember looking over at Hayden as he watched Simone walk down the aisle, and having to quickly look away as I could feel my emotions bubbling up way too quickly for this old celebrant to deal with.

It’s rare I cry at a wedding, but his emotional reaction nearly got me. Nearly!

Here I am doing a sound-check with the bride’s brother who I co-piloted a ceremony with recently. He did a fab job!

I know some celebrants don’t like doing them as they find they’re more work than couples realise. However, if you’re a celebrant considering these, here’s my tips:

👩‍✈️Co-piloting is not the same as marrying a couple in a coffee shop to cover the legalities, so make sure you’re charging accordingly as it will be extra effort.

🧑‍✈️Does the co-pilot need to use your PA System, and if so, allow extra time on site to set up and talk them through microphone technique.

👨‍✈️Will the co-pilot be doing all the non-legal elements (welcome, story, ring exchange, asking, etc) or just the story part of the ceremony?

🧑‍✈️Will the co-pilot need help, advice or support prior to the ceremony on things like structure, content, etc? How will this communication take place? Email? Phone? Zoom?

👩‍✈️Make sure the co-pilot is explicit that they aren’t legally marrying the couple, and that you are there to conduct the legal element.

🧑‍✈️Make sure you have all the details before quoting. I’ve done co-piloting where it’s been straight forward, and I’ve done co-piloting where I’ve had to give a lot of guidance. It’s rare I’ll charge my ‘legals only’ fee, unless, for example, the co-pilot is a celebrant whose registration has lapsed, and therefore knows what they’re doing.
