There was a time when women had to wear corsets and crinolines, flounced petticoats and chemise-like skirts. And there was a time, when everything in the world of fashion changed. A new form of femininity was born - one that spoke of freedom, independence and experimentation; one that followed the body’s natural curves without moulding it and one that evoked endlessness.

Today only a few designers know the ancient Japanese technique that can change a woman’s silhouette in the most amazing and mystical way, creating a simplified body-clinging effect.

One of them is the Swiss-Japanese designer Kazu Huggler, whose garments re-create the kimono pattern with a rare purity and artistic expression. She also creates the prints for her garments on her own, inspired by Japanese symbols and fables. Her garments speak volumes and Kazu herself is an amazing story teller.

Have you ever asked yourself how designers create their collections, how do they bring their ideas to life? How do they choose the fabric? What inspires them? I recently visited a couture designer in her studio in Zurich to take a closer look at the preparation process of her next collection and I stayed there the whole afternoon absolutely lost in her stories, the silk, the draperies, the prints...it was one-of-a-kind Alice in Wonderland experience. That is what inspired me to do an event where people can see, touch and get lost in the story of creation! Just in a few hours the registration for this event will be open.
