Founded in 1996, Tanzhaus Zürich is one of the most important centres for contemporary choreography and performance in Switzerland.
We are a small team and see our role as that of a host, catering for the needs and concerns of 'our' artists – with artistic research and production, specialised qualification and advanced training, individual instruction and guidance, innovative discourse, international networks, long-term placements and representation taking centre stage.
Tanzhaus also coproduces contemporary dance professionals working in Zurich and supports them with the newly founded Dramaturgy Pool during the entire production and creation process.
With our residencies, we offer local, national and international artists the time and space needed for research and development as well as the opportunity to learn about the various stages of the creative process – from open rehearsals to nearly completed performances.
Under the label Tanzhaus young, Tanzhaus Zürich presents dance performances for young audiences and school classes, offers courses for children and young adults, and launches its own projects and holiday courses in cooperation with other municipal institutions.
