The Village Players of Lausanne

The Village Players are a friendly group of theatre English lovers. Join us! Our activities are based at the Centre Pluriculturel et social d’Ouchy (CPO), Ch.

The Village Players is an open and friendly club, actively putting on plays in the Lausanne area since 1981. In the past 40+ years, our members have presented 2 to 3 full theatrical productions every year. These have included classics and music-halls, modern comedy, tragedy, thriller, experimental, light and serious plays. Administration and events programming are organised and run by a small comm

At this very central location we meet for our informal monthly Clubnights, rehearse, have auditions and workshops and stage our public productions. If you’d like to join The Village Players, please email [email protected]. The current subscription for membership is:
Full membership (26 and over) CHF 85 / year
Full membership (25 and under) CHF 50 / year

As a member, you have a discount on tickets to our major productions (CHF 20 instead of CHF 25) and free entrance to our monthly Clubnights. These range from rehearsed play-readings, theatre workshops, music and poetry evenings to social events such as our Christmas get-together. One of the favourite events is the ‘As You Like It’ evening, a surprise collection of individual turns consisting of anything that tickles the entertainers' fancy. All paid-up Members receive the monthly newsletter – VPs’ Information – which keeps them in touch with all The Village Players’ activities through information and reviews of productions and events, announcements of interesting theatrical happenings elsewhere as well as articles and letters on topics of interest to Village Players members.

📣📣Calling all directors with a play to put on stage! Our committee is now accepting submissions for 2026 productions.

We put on one production in May and one in November. All experienced or aspiring directors are welcome to apply.

With the November production already underway, we aim to have a Spring 2026 show selected by the start of November, so kindly submit by October 1.

👉Also if you would like to direct a classic, there are many plays suggested by teachers at the Gymnases in Vaud that would appeal to students and our regular audiences alike:

📖 Synopsis: Set during the American Civil War (1861-65), Little Women has been adapted numerous times for stage and screen. This version is a simple, playful and intelligent retelling of the story of the four young March sisters, set in the attic of the family home, which the actors adapt into different venues. This is very much an ensemble play
with a fair amount of physical activity.

The sisters create scenes of love and loss as they make up stories of witches and fairies; heroes and villains, and write articles for their beloved imaginary newspaper. As these four little women come of age and find the different paths they want to follow, they learn that their strength comes from the unity and love of their family
