Why I Choose Vinyl
People often ask me why I still choose vinyl in a world where digital DJing has become the standard.
The truth is, I genuinely enjoy both.
Digital DJing has evolved tremendously over the years. It offers incredible flexibility, creative tools, and endless technical possibilities. Loops, hot cues, effects, multiple decks—it’s an amazing way to perform, and I completely understand why so many DJs choose it.
But despite all of that, my heart still belongs to vinyl.
Not because it’s easier—it definitely isn’t.
And not because it’s better than digital.
I choose vinyl because it gives me a feeling that technology simply can’t replace.
Of course, vinyl has its blessings and its curses. Every vinyl DJ knows that. A booth that’s not properly set up, worn needles, bad monitors, or turntables that aren’t perfectly isolated can make your performance much more challenging. Sometimes things don’t go as planned, and it can be frustrating.
Preparing a vinyl set also takes considerably more time. I can’t simply drag a selection of tracks onto a USB stick. Every performance starts long before I arrive at the venue. I spend hours going through my collection, listening to records, thinking about combinations, and carefully selecting the records that will come with me that night.
Yet that’s exactly what I love about it.
That preparation isn’t a chore—it’s part of the experience.
Every record I pack has earned its place in my bag.
Collecting vinyl is another passion entirely. There is something incredibly satisfying about owning the physical record itself. The artwork, the label, the sleeve, the history behind a release—it all becomes part of the music. A digital file may contain the same track, but it can never replace the feeling of holding the original record in your hands.
One of the biggest advantages of playing vinyl is the freedom it gives me in music selection. Not every great Hardcore record has ever been released digitally. Some forgotten classics, underground releases, white labels, and rare pressings only exist on vinyl. That means my collection allows me to play tracks that many people have never heard in a digital set.
It keeps every performance unique.
For me, DJing has never been about choosing the easiest path. It’s about staying connected to the music in the most authentic way possible. Every mix is created by hand, every transition requires focus, and every record carries a story that deserves to be heard again.
Vinyl isn’t perfect.
Neither is digital.
They both have their strengths.
But when I stand behind two turntables with a crate full of records beside me, that’s when I feel most connected to the music, the culture, and the passion that made me fall in love with Hardcore.
That’s why I’ll keep choosing vinyl.
Not to prove that it’s better.
But because it’s the way I love to tell my story.
Pure vinyl. Pure passion. Pure Hardcore.
