Yes, in Islam, marriage is based on mutual rights and responsibilities, with both spouses having obligations towards each other.
1. **Obedience of the Wife to the Husband**:
- The Quran and Hadith emphasize that a wife should respect and obey her husband in matters that are reasonable and in accordance with Islamic teachings.
- The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:
*"If a woman prays her five daily prayers, fasts her month (Ramadan), guards her chastity, and obeys her husband, she will enter Paradise from any of its gates she wishes."* (Ibn Hibban, Sahih)
- However, obedience does not mean blind submission or oppression. A husband cannot demand anything that is haram (forbidden) or beyond a wife’s capacity.
2. **Kind Treatment of the Husband Towards the Wife**:
- The Quran commands men to treat their wives with kindness:
*"And live with them in kindness. For if you dislike them – perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good."* (Quran 4:19)
- The Prophet (ﷺ) also emphasized good conduct:
*"The best of you are those who are best to their wives, and I am the best of you to my wives."* (Tirmidhi, Sahih)

Islamic marriage is not about dominance but about love, respect, and fulfilling responsibilities. While the wife is encouraged to obey her husband in permissible matters, the husband is commanded to be gentle, loving, and just. Both are accountable before Allah for their treatment of each other.
