I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful holiday season and is feeling refreshed as we welcome the New Year. As we begin 2026, it’s a meaningful time to reflect on the rich heritage and culture of our community here in St. Norbert.
Each year, our friends at the St. Norbert Community Centre proudly host St. Norbert Heritage Days, a beloved winter tradition that brings neighbours together to celebrate our shared history. This year’s Heritage Days will be held on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6 and 7, and will feature activities for all ages, including an incredible baked potato buffet.
The first evening kicks off with a beer garden and live bands, making it a perfect Friday night out with friends. Guests can also enjoy hearty comfort foods ideal for a cold winter day, such as soups and tourtière.
Day two offers fun for the whole family, beginning with a delicious pancake breakfast in the morning. In the afternoon, community members can gather around a bonfire to warm up and spend time with neighbours, followed by a fireworks display to cap off the celebrations.
For the past two years, I’ve had the pleasure of attending St. Norbert Heritage Days. From enjoying the crisp winter air to sharing great food, music, and conversation with friends from around the neighbourhood, it’s always a wonderful opportunity to connect with our community, and I’m looking forward to attending again this year. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the St. Norbert Community Centre for being such wonderful hosts and true community leaders by organizing Heritage Days year after year. I’m also grateful to the vendors who share their talents and to everyone who comes out to celebrate – your participation is what makes this event so special.
St. Norbert Heritage Days is a fantastic opportunity for residents to come together and celebrate the history and culture that make our community so unique. Founded by First Nations peoples, the Métis, and settlers who worked together to build this area, St. Norbert’s story is one I am proud to represent within the Manitoba government.
As a Métis woman and the MLA for Seine River, celebrating our community and its heritage is especially meaningful to me. I am deeply grateful for your continued support, and it remains one of my greatest honours to work toward a stronger, more connected Seine River each day.
