Lately, we’ve been making a conscious effort to step away from the endless Pinterest scroll when we’re designing.
And honestly, it’s been one of my favourite creative discoveries, learning to look elsewhere, outside of the event world, and find inspiration from a completely different perspective.
There is SO much incredible inspiration out there that has absolutely nothing to do with weddings or events. Branding, graphic design, architecture, fashion, interiors… even concepts from insanely talented designers that may have never actually seen the light of day.
Taking those ideas and figuring out how they can translate into an event — the graphics, colours, textures, details and overall feeling — has completely changed the way I look at design.
Am I completely there? Oh no 😂 I’m definitely still looking at current event trends and sprinkling them in where they make sense. But I’m spending a lot more time listening to the client, figuring out what actually feels like them, and then doing the research to find inspiration in places we maybe wouldn’t have looked before.
And I think that’s the part I love the most.
The research. The rabbit holes. Finding that one random reference that suddenly makes everything click.
Less “what are people doing right now?” and a lot more “what can we find that feels completely right for this person?”
