Did you know that October 18 changed Canadian history forever? 🇨🇦

On October 18, in 1929, the landmark Persons Day ruling officially declared that women are legally "persons" under the law!
Brought forward by the Famous Five (Henrietta Muir Edwards, Louise McKinney, Nellie McClung, Irene Parlby, and Emily Murphy), this decision did far more than open the Canadian Senate to women, it struck down old legal rules that denied women independent status, opening doors to hold public office, practice law, own property, and stand as full, equal human beings before the law.
It also established Canada’s "Living Tree" doctrine, proving that our laws must grow and adapt over time. This Sunday, we celebrate the trailblazers who fought for legal dignity and equality rights for all!
97 years of women legally being a person.
