Step-by-Step: Removing Ink Stains with Hand Sanitizer
Test First
Dab a small amount of hand sanitizer on an inconspicuous area of the fabric to make sure it doesn’t cause discoloration or damage.
Place a Barrier Under the Stain
Lay a paper towel, cloth, or napkin underneath the stained area to prevent the ink from transferring to the back side of the garment.
Apply Hand Sanitizer Directly to the Stain
Use a clear, alcohol-based hand sanitizer (avoid colored or gel-based with moisturizers).
Sq**rt a small amount directly on the ink stain—just enough to cover it.
Let It Sit
Allow it to sit for 5–10 minutes.
The alcohol will help break down the ink pigments.
Blot, Don’t Rub
Using a clean cloth, cotton ball, or paper towel, blot the stain.
You’ll start to see the ink transferring to the blotting material. Keep blotting with a clean area.
Rinse Thoroughly
Rinse the area with cold water to remove the sanitizer and loosened ink.
Launder as Usual
Wash the garment in the hottest water safe for the fabric.
Avoid putting it in the dryer until you're sure the stain is gone—heat can set it permanently.
Repeat if Necessary
If the stain remains, repeat the steps before drying.
