Sadly, the end of July also will see the end of Bloomsbury House's residency at the Masonic Temple Ballroom.
New expectations make it impossible for us to continue the model which makes us unique: Artists receiving a minimum 50% of all sales while we also provide a cost-accessible plug & play rehearsal, meeting, and performance space to community organisations. "Sunk cost" is a fallacy for a reason so we made the difficult decision to halt investment and begin another search for an adaptable long-term property.
We'd like first to thank the amazing artists who made our resident company's two years in this venue such a success. I'm going to make my best attempt to list you all below, show-by-show.
The silent partners in this endeavour have always been Janet & Ken Ouellette who continue to invest in our artistic pursuit like it's a barely-break-even family restaurant... which is actually what it is; serving artisanal brain candy.
We'd especially like to thank WECAP and the Windsor Health Unit for being long-time rental clients. Your reliability gave us a fiscal cushion to take chances on new artists, safe-community-building events, taboo-breaking genres, and unproven independent productions.
SPECIAL THANKS to June Giroux, who was an incredible help as we got this project off the ground, and Josie Murphy, who designed and provided our social media presence.
We also received much generous help in the form of props, furniture, and costumes from WECAP, Kordazone Theatre, Migration Hall, the University of Windsor, and Habitat for Humanity, among others. If any items have not yet been returned, expect a message in the next two weeks as we sort ourselves out :E
We have some good small-venue sound and lighting equipment moving into storage as well as 4'x8' 8" staging platforms, several units of 20'x10' pipe & drape, custom-built acoustic panels, classic furniture, etc. - so if anyone has needs in that regard please reach out :D
Thanks to Queens of the Billboard, Jaz Morneau, Alysia Therrien, Windsor Magic Circle, Vinyl to Viral, Epoxy Drag Queen, House of Venus, Ivy League, and WECAP for choosing Bloomsbury House as a production partner!
Our most special thanks go to the artists who took part in our resident productions:
