WHAT’S TAKING SO LONG?!!
My apologies everyone… I know I have been saying the Showrooms were to re-open for tours in October, but I’m further behind with things than I thought.
I feel like I’m still stuck in January!
For those who don’t know, my uncle fell ill last November with an extremely bad infection in his foot. He’s a bachelor and lives on his own in Vernon.
The infection had spread to his blood, and in January he underwent a surgery to remove his leg (below the knee) and had to have a pacemaker installed.
As his legal advocate & medical proxy I needed to be in Vernon to assist him through his journey.
My mom & I met with doctors & nurses, specialists & surgeons, lawyers, handled bills, his income tax, lining up rehabilitation, taking him to appointments, updating family & friends, reconfiguring his home for his return and lining up at home care for once he was released, etc.
I traveled back & forth from Vernon & home every week and a half, all while running my business from the road.
With all the added responsibilities & additional travel, I needed to pump the brakes with my business a bit. I needed to put tasks onto the back burner and take on fewer clients.
I had already committed to the largest wedding of my career in early November and also a few other amazing & wonderful clients for the 2026 wedding season.
It is extremely important to me to give my ALL to my clients, especially when these are some of the most important moments in their lives.
By the middle of May, I needed to be home to complete the first weddings, and my uncle was in the process of being released from the rehabilitation clinic - once he was able to walk with his new prosthetic leg.
May to the end of September was a blur lol.
I needed to complete several new designs, blueprints, mock-ups, and timelines for my clients… network with vendors, do several venue walk throughs, put a team of 12 artists together & train them for Sonia & Munraj’s wedding, and so much more.
I’m not going to lie, once Sonia & Munraj’s wedding was complete at the beginning of August - we pretty much unloaded a huge majority of the decor into Jason’s shop, left the cargo trailer full, the Showrooms were buried to the ceiling with decor and we managed to hand washed & polished all the tableware for 282 guests…
We then left to go back to Vernon to check on my uncle & chill for a few days before having to return home to pack for the next weddings in Quesnel.
Once those weddings were completed, it was time to start the preparations for winterization of our property, tackle the massive amount of decor in Jason’s shop, get him & Abby ready for their two week off grid hunting trip and gathering the insane amount of firewood we need to heat our home for the winter.
Inquiries for booking events for the Fall & Winter, plus weddings & events for the 2027 & 2028 season started coming through in mid August.
With all the new decor pieces that I have purchased in my adventures this year, plus the new items from last year (I was supposed to upload them into my software/online catalog throughout last winter)… I’m very BEHIND.
One of the biggest issues & time constraints is to find a place to store/showcase all the new pieces in the Showrooms lol… we are bursting at the seams!!!!
I made the decision to downsize a ton of decor pieces that just aren’t fitting with my vision anymore, and to make some much-needed room for all the amazing new pieces.
We brought in $10,000 worth of new draping materials for Sonia & Munraj’s wedding - that’s 8 huge totes alone, plus more assorted lengths for the custom ceiling treatment in Quesnel.
Additionally, we have added a large selection of vases, silk floral & greenery, black round table linens, lighting & accessories, serving dishes for food tables, candle holders and soooo much more.
All of these items need a home - which is requiring reconfiguring the Showrooms, Sea-Can and Shop - hence the addition time.
I promise - I’m so close to being finished, and it will be worth the wait.
Here are a few images I snapped of a few of the newer items… poor Jesse is going to have her work cut out for her to photograph all these new pieces this Spring.
Thank you so much for your continued patience & support. I appreciate each and every one of you.
Cheers,
