I try to challenge myself every dahlia season to make one floral installation with only dahlias and anything else I’ve planted or foraged in the bush. This year I decided on a swing along the bank of the Torch River, and I’ll be honest, it was a group effort!
Here’s to my dad for climbing the ladder many times to hang the swing up so I didn’t break any bones and my mother for patiently enduring raspberry thorns in her thumb. These poor souls most likely want to be rescued from me and my ideas at this point. 😂😂
This swing was made with four ingredients: willow boughs, raspberry stems, goldenrod w**ds that had gone to seed, and approximately 100 dahlia stems. Never underestimate the power of a w**d that has gone to seed for arrangements!
Floral installation 2026 is in the books!
