I can't say enough incredibly amazing things about the Russell Construction team of awesome people. They were so speedy, so awesome to work with, so accommodating and BEST OF ALL, they understood my timelines and made sure I opened on time!!! Gah! Love these boys, and I'd recommend them to anyone and everyone who needs work done, whether commercially or personally ✌️🤙

Mango Cayenne Creamsicle Smoothie Bowl

Yep. Ya read that right. I have a sweet tooth, but between the mango and the vanilla protein powder, this was just a tad too sweet for me. So! How do we fix the issue? By adding cayenne and cacao nibs of course!

Firstly, mango and chocolate go beautifully together, but chocolate tends to have a decent amount of sugar in it and that is just unnecessary when there's about 23 grams of naturally occurring sugar in a cup of mango chunks. Cacao nibs, on the other hand, are raw, a bit bitter, and wonderfully crunchy.

The spicy cayenne balances out the sweetness in both the mango and the coconut and adds the PERFECT amount of bite. You're gonna love this, I promise. Recipe below:

8 oz almond or coconut milk (from a carton, not a can)
1 cup frozen mango chunks
1/8 tsp cayenne
1 scoop vanilla protein powder of choice (my favourite is Magnum Quattro Protein Isolate which has 30 grams of protein and only 1 gram of sugar)

Blend it up, pour it out with the help of a rubber spatula, and top with:

2 tbsps cacao nibs
2 tbsps toasted coconut
1 tbsp almond sliced
1 tbsp walnut pieces
Pinch of cayenne

I've recently fallen in love with smoothie bowls.

I know, I know, I'm late to the trend game, but there it is.

There's an emphasis on balanced nutrition in my household. My kiddos have fruits and/or veggies, healthy grains and some sort of fat or protein at pretty much every meal. Sometimes I need to bribe them to try new foods, but overall, in general, and most of the time... they eat healthy. Swipe to see my offspring proudly flaunting their smoothie/bowl 😄

That said, nutrition is largely based on your beliefs and mentality. Vegans may or may not believe that eating meat is wildly unhealthy, someone on a keto diet likely believes bread is Satan, anybody on a non-restrictive diet just absolutely KNOWS that ice cream will be the death of us all.

But truly, if you're eating with purpose, eating to fuel your body (85%) or your soul (15%), you're doing yourself a service. This smoothie bowl was about 650 calories. It's what my body needed to replenish my depleted energy and nutrient stores after my workout and spending 3 hours coaching at the gym. Later this evening, I had a glass of wine and popcorn, about 350 calories, which is what my soul needed after a long ass day.

Balance. Eat well. Be kind. Live healthfully.

Sweet lord, this took me forever to put together, but I'm actually a tad bit impressed with my newfound editing/splicing/creative abilities. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I'm feeling accomplished today, so there ya go. 😎

I don't usually indulge this much on a Monday night, but I felt off all damned day today and can't seem to shake the low vibes. (Anyone else?) So I've decided to put all my favourites together and spend a little me time outdoors snuggled in a blanket, reading a book and pressing the reset button.

Tomorrow's a new day and I'm ready to rock the rest of the week starting fresh tomorrow. ✌️

PS, my (4yo) son made me this vase for Mother's day 🥺 and daisies are my favourite, so the two together put a big ole smile on my face 🙂

Fun little tune for this incredible brunch board! 😋

This was so much fun to put together and I adore everything about brunch!! The fact that it's both sweet and savory, and at the perfect time where nobody calls you crazy for having coffee number 2 (or 3), and nobody judges you for drinking champagne with a drop of OJ.

Complete with an apple spiced cream cheese dip and mini pancake/skewers. 🥰🥰💓😾😾
