This is how you get married in Whistler.

Grab a few of your favourite people, put on your ski boots and head up Whistler Mountain.

Ski together for a bit, find a beautiful spot in the snow, and get married.

Then ski back down, swap the ski gear for a wedding dress and tux, and head to the Fairmont Chateau Whistler for dinner.

I loved this wedding.

It was fun, it was simple, and it felt completely like them. They still had the flowers, the veil, the vows, their closest people and an amazing dinner. They just skipped a whole bunch of the stuff they didn’t care about.

And I think that’s one of the best things about an elopement.

It doesn’t have to mean sneaking away somewhere and getting married alone. Bring your people. Make a day of it. Go skiing. Get dressed up afterwards. Have an incredible dinner.

Build a wedding around the things you actually love doing together.

For these two, that meant skiing, mountains, family, good food and each other.

Pretty hard to beat that.

Well, the weather definitely showed up for this one.

Clouds rolling through, a bit of wind, family gathered on the mountain, and these two getting married right in the middle of it all.

And then the sky opened up for that sunset.
