One of my favourite things about officiating weddings is discovering the little details that tell a couple’s story.

For these two, it meant wandering over to the local skatepark after the ceremony. Vans instead of dress shoes. A pair of “Bride” and “Groom” socks. A place that felt familiar and fun.

The groom was a professional BMX rider back in the day, so this wasn’t just a cool photo—it was a nod to a big part of his story.

That’s what I love.

The best weddings aren’t about checking every box or following every tradition. They’re about weaving pieces of your life into a day that feels unmistakably you.

Years from now, this photo won’t just remind them what they wore.

People sometimes say how “lucky” I am to officiate adventure elopements.

My answer is usually pretty simple, “I’m just doing what I love to do!”

When I’m not marrying couples, you’ll usually find me climbing, backcountry snowboarding, hiking, or exploring somewhere in the mountains.

It’s where I love spending my time.

So when a couple tells me they want to exchange vows on a mountain summit, beside an alpine lake, or after a helicopter ride into the backcountry, I get it. That’s my kind of day too.

These places aren’t just beautiful—they’re where some of my favourite memories have been made. It’s a privilege to help couples begin their own story in places that mean so much to me.

Adventure isn’t something I do occasionally.

Adventure is a way of life.
