๐ฃ Mary here,
After a little time to rest and reflect, I just wanted to say one thing loud and clear:
THANK YOU.
If youโre someone like me who skips to the bottom (TLDR): hereโs the short version โ my heart is full, and I am deeply grateful.
If youโve got a moment, Iโd love to share what made the Westville 100 such an incredible experience for me, personally.
๐ First, to my husband Shawn โ my rock and my constant. From the first training step to the final 100km, you supported me in every way possible. Whether it was bringing tea and socks, checking on me mid-walk, or cheering me to the finish line โ I simply couldnโt have done this without you.
๐ To our daughters Emma, Grace, and Robbi โ thank you. Emma worked tirelessly on every detail from posters to logistics, Grace brought joy, music, and bubble magic to keep me going, and Robbi (and her boys!) sent love across the country. I felt it all.
๐ To my wider family โ thank you for coming from near and far to support me and keep our team fueled and encouraged.
๐ To our dream team committee: Emma Taylor, Gina Snell, Lennie White, Jacob Billington, Guy Aucoin, Janice Gouthro, Wendy Munro, Pamela Canning, Shawn Taylor, Jillian Hennick, and Kerianne Chislett โ you made this happen. Each of you brought your gifts, your care, and your heart.
๐ To the volunteers who were with us from 3:30 AM to midnight โ you are my heroes. From breakfast to donations to popcorn machines and clean-up, you never stopped giving.
๐ To those who walked with me โ thank you for your encouragement and presence. From the early morning crew and the NS Highlanders, to the midday crew and the parade walkers, to the evening stretch with our incredible youth โ every step with you meant something.
๐ To the drivers who kept us safe, to the vendors who nourished us, to the town that cheered, honked, waved, and encouraged me with every turn โ THANK YOU.
๐ To the families supported by Food for Focus โ thank you for letting us walk for you. Especially to those who joined the parade and helped break stigma by proudly sharing your story. You reminded us all of the heart of this mission.
๐ To every donor โ whether you gave $5 or $5,000 โ your support made a difference. You walked with me.
๐ To everyone who stayed until the final loop, who crossed that finish line beside me, and who made this community dream come true โ I see you. I thank you.
If Iโve missed anyone, please know itโs not because Iโve forgotten. Itโs because the love and support was so vast, Iโm still taking it all in.
I walked 100km, but this was never about just me. This was all of us, walking toward something better.
From the bottom of my heart โ thank you. ๐
